Mod Podge Rocks! Book Review and Giveaway

by Diane Henkler on 06/01/2012

Happy Friday everyone. In celebration of the weekend, I have a fun and inspiring giveaway for you.  If you read creative blogs then I know you have heard of Mod Podge Rocks – the blog.  Well, now the blog has expanded – into a book – Mod Podge Rocks! Decoupage Your World, written by Amy Anderson.

Giveaway

Amy Anderson is the blogger behind Mod Podge Rocks!, the craft blog focused on all things Mod Podge.  As bloggers go – Amy rocks! She has been writing her blog since 2008 and believes like me – that anyone can be creative. She is a blogger’s blogger and the best bloggy authority out there. We all love her in the crafting community.

If you don’t know what Mod Podge is – it is an all-in-one glue, sealer, and finish that can be used on almost anything.    I was asked if I would like to review a copy of the book and host a giveaway, of course I said, yes. I have two books to giveaway.    I love creative books that teach, inspire, and have step-by-step photo tutorials and Mod Podge Rocks, Decoupage Your World delivers!

Mod Podge allows even novices to be creative.    The best testament that shows just how great Mod Podge is – it has been around since the 1960’s!  I remember my mom using it back in the 70’s on her projects and I always thought the name was so cool.  Mod Podge is a crafting classic.  The original gloss formula comes in the classic orange label, but now there are matte, satin, hard coat, paper, fabric, outdoor, and sparkle formulas and Amy describes and shows how to use all of them in the book.

Mod-Podge-Rocks-Book-and-Pr

Amy also shows you along with a few other popular craft bloggers just how easy it is to use Mod Podge. There are 40 projects each with a beautiful full page color photo along with a step-by-step photo tutorial.

A few of my favorites:

The Retro Floral Outdoor Chair.   What a great way to update a classic. The book includes design templates for you to copy so you can make the exact same flowers you see on the chair yourself.

Amy herself is in the Carnival Ribbon and Ticket Frame.

Most of the projects have fun titles like these Chi Chi Magazine Holders.  The photos in the book are so clear and vivid making the tutorials very easy to follow.

Love this stool – I could use one of these in my house – being able to add your own style easily to plain pieces is what makes Mod Podge really ROCK!

The projects are organized into 3 sections. – Wearables, Home Décor, and Holiday. Plus a a primer section that explains what Mod Podge is, what all the different formulas do, as well as going over basic techniques so even a novice will be able to create beautiful, funky, fun, and colorful crafts, décor, and wearables.   The last section is a gallery where Amy features many projects done by other bloggers.

Mod-Podge-Rocks-Book-Giveaw

And it is priced just right! The list price for the book is $14.99, which means you can find it at a discount at Amazon, or use your 40% off coupon at your local craft store.

Amy congratulations! You have written a very inspiring book – you ROCK!

If you love Mod Podge then I know you will love this book. If you have never used it then you will soon find out why it is such a craft room staple and will be joining the legions of Mod Podgers already out there, myself included.

To enter to win a copy of Mod Podge Rocks! just leave me a comment.  Giveaway will end Tuesday June 5th.   Good Luck!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Mod Podge is awesome! I have used it several times, including a recent project where I lined the back of my reading room bookcase:

I also recently used it to glue 2 pieces of pretty scrapbook paper together and make a bookmark :) It makes paper really sturdy!

You said your mom used Mod Podge in the 70′s. Yikes that sounds like I’m older than, or about the same age, as your mom! LOL!

At any rate, I too used it way back then but haven’t in years. I don’t really think of myself as a crafter but this book might give me some inspiration to do so :-)

17 DebbieGoodrow June 2, 2012 at 12:05 am

Yep… I’ve been using Mod Podge about the same length of time as Mom. I will say I haven’t in a while.. there are outdoor versions? And more?!? I gotta get back into Mod Podge!
Winning the book would certainly jump start me… *grin*

It’s so great that ModPodge has an updated use! Diane, I, too, remember my mom using it to make those burnt-edge photos mounted on wood. There are so many more uses than THAT for ModPodge! I’d like to try doing some furniture. ModPodge works so much better than white glue. Must have some secret ingredient that makes it so.

My hubby and I we looking on Pinterest to find ideas for my Craft Office when we came across your blog on your craft area. Hours later we had to peel ourselves away from the laptop just to go go sleep.

Well, he’s asleep next to me. I kept looking scanning your blog and Pinterest boards. Finding another couple of dozen or more ideas that I’ve Pinned or book marked to print the ideas for my craft book.

Then I found this giveaway. Who can resist Modge Podge craft ideas? Especially when they are free to the winner. Great giveaway!!!

give the girls a brush and a bottle of modgepodge…. Kids have a fantastic time creating a masterpiece mom can keep.
