Happy Labor Day weekend everyone.  It is time to close up shop for the weekend. Out from behind my desk and out to enjoy the holiday weekend.

In-My-Own-Style's-Desk

Before I take off though  – this just came across my desk – well actually in the mail from the lovely folks at Lark Books.  It is a 128 page book filled with 31 Frightfully Elegant projects for Halloween entitled Artful Halloween by Susan Wasinger.

Artful-Halloween

Here are a few of my favorites projects – Thread Wrapped Pumpkins, Eye Magnets, and Treat Buckets.  There are dozens of additional projects to decorate both the inside and outside of your house. Many your kids can do, too.  Every project has a step-by-step photo tutorial to go with it.

The spirit of Halloween has been fading from my neighborhood. My kids and I have always had fun decorating but during the past few years, our Halloween stuff has been stolen (skeleton, cauldron, gypsie fortune teller that speaks, and a female skeleton dressed all in black with a red rose). I became very angry that i no longer wanted to decorate but my kids made me realize that Halloween is for all kids of all ages and I shouldn’t deprive my neightborhood kids from a fun halloween or at least as fun as i can make it just because of a few bad apples. So I would love a chance for you to choose me for this book. Thank you for sharing this information and enjoy your weekend.

What a wonderfully creative looking book. I just found your site a few days ago while looking for inspiration on organizing my basement! You really have me thinking about the possibilities.
I have grown children but live next door to 5 of the most charming and engaging children I have ever known. We tried planting pumpkins in my front yard this spring as a “science” project, but the bugs and heat killed them all…..I would love to have craft times with my little pals this fall before Halloween. I could give their mom a well deserved break and have a blast all at the same time!

When I was growing up, Halloween was safe and we didn’t have to wait until we got home to eat sweet treats from our bags….However, everyone decorated their homes all the same – pumpkins with triangle eyes, nose and a smily shaped mouth with a tooth or two! What fun it would be to have a chance to try some updated decorating projects. It’s all good and so much fun to decorate for the fall. Thank you for sharing a sneak peak at this book.

I think this would convince him of this.

I want to make so many more things but am afraid I will do it wrong….like the pleated stool. love it. I am afraid I wont do the pleats correctly. I will do it at some point. I adore Halloween. It is my favorite holiday. I love the nip in the air, all the adorable costumes and most of all decorating for it! This year I’m in an apartment and have to improvise a little. This book would be fantastic to have! Thank you for having this contest!

What a wonderful book, love the pictures. Halloween is a great holiday to dress up and be someone you are not. I am a Girl Scout leader and our troop loves to decorate and get new ideas for their Halloween party. My kids love to set up a grave yard in the front yard for everyone to see. They love the idea of making things scary.

Diane,
I have to say, I can never wait for summer to arrive, but after a while, I’m itching for Fall, and I’m so glad its here once again. I’m excited to start dressing w/ layers and to bring out my fall decorations – the warm colors, nothing compares. I just recently came across your website and it’s now one of my favorites. I’m attempting to make the Restoration Hardware fire columns and on Fri I watched the CoverGirl smokey eye tutorial and had to go out and buy everything to recreate it on myself. It turned out perfect.
Thank you!
Jane

Hi Diane. I would love to win this awesome book. I hope you enjoy your holiday weekend. I am just finishing up my decoupage dresser using yours as my inspiration. Except for a few wrinkles in the wrapping paper it is turning out really nice. Thanks for your blog. I visit often!

Wow! What an incredibly cool book. I like the fact that there are not just ‘spooky’ projects to do but I the idea of “frightfully elegant” projects to do, too. I love to read and pour over craft and decor books and blogs, so the idea to be able to add this book to my small collection would be a real…hmm, what’s the right word, oh yeah, treat!

Take care and have an awesome weekend.

meet once a month to do crafts ) and we decided that doing different designs for pumpkins would be the project for next month. I loved the pumpkin decorated with the medalions. Would love to have this book to share with the ladies.

This is my first ever blog comment – WooHoo! It is now my time for Halloween. We have had the cutsie cutsie when the kids were tiny Halloween, the not too scarey Hallowwen in the early elementary years, the gross gorey Halloween during the middle-school and teen years and now it is time for Our Halloween… The Artsy Halloween would be an ideal jumping off point and a good description of what I am ready for!
