Show The World Your Before and After Paint Projects

by Diane Henkler on 09/23/2012

If you have been reading my blog for awhile then you know that I am a contributor over at My Colortopia.  I write a monthly blog post and answer readers paint and decorating questions along with 6 other DIY bloggers.  This month I wrote about the before and after transformation of the corner cabinets in the post – My Evolving Family Room.

It is always exciting to see my work featured on My Colortopia. It is a nice feeling, one that makes me feel accomplished.   Well – I have exciting news to share with you – you can see your projects featured there as well. Yes!  You read that right.  You can share your projects online with the world now, too.  A new feature just launched over on My Colortopia called Show Your Colors – and it is all about – YOUR PROJECTS!

Here is a peek of my latest before and after paint project – the corner cabinets in my family room. They used to be dark oak.

Family Room Painted Cabinets

Since you enjoy DIY’ing you probably have a number of before and after paint projects that you have done in your own home.   Show Your Colors is the place to show them off.  It features before & after photos submitted by you and all My Colortopia readers. You do not have to have a blog to submit  projects.  These Before & After photos celebrate your paint projects and the pride and satisfaction you feel when you are done.  They also serve as inspiration for others who are considering painting—readers can see the transformations and then find Glidden paint colors that match any photo in the Show Your Colors gallery.

Not only can you submit your own photos and match colors, but you can also browse the before and after photos of all the submissions by room and by color. For example, if you are thinking of painting your laundry room blue, simply choose “laundry room” and the color “blue” from the drop down menus.  You will see other readers who have painted their laundry room blue.  You can even leave comments on submissions. It is fun and inspiring.

You can begin by playing with the My Colortopia widget below.  Click on the “Before & Afters” tab to scroll through some of the latest submissions.  Click “Share Your Photos” to be taken to the Show Your Colors Submit page and begin sharing your own before and after projects and transformations.    Want to read the latest blog posts including the one I recently did about how I painted my corner cabinets? Simply click on the “Blog Post” tab.

Here is what the Show Your Colors page looks like. If you have your photos already saved on your computer, just click on the “Submit Your Before & After” button.   You will be asked to sign in.

Next you will be taken to a page where you fill in some details about your paint project.

My Colortopia Show Your Colors

Click upload to upload 4 photos – the first one should be the” “after” as that is the one that will show up as the feature shot.  You can preview them to make sure all the photos are showing correctly, then hit submit.

My Colortopia Show your Colors

Now your talent and work is showcased to inspire others and should make you feel very proud.

If you don’t have any before and after photos – take some of your next project so you can see your work published.  The best part is after you have submitted your photos you will be rewarded knowing that your DIY efforts are going to help and inspire others, plus you will be able to tell your friends and family that your work has just been published on My Colortopia!

I have been sponsored by Glidden® brand paint to write this post but the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Hey Diane! When I arrived home yesterday at the airport I saw a lady looking at the My Colortopia ad in a magazine. :) She was lifting the tab of YOUR picture, and I just had to say to her “I know that lady”. :) lol I spoke to her for a short while explaining why I got to hang out with you last week, and she was like “what’s a blogger”? hahahah We’ve come a long way baby, but still have a ways to go.
hope to see you soon!

Hi Gail – Glad to hear that you had a nice visit with your family. Pretty funny about the My Colortopia ad. It is a clever ad – getting readers to interact with it. I have run into a few people that don’t understand what a blogger is, too. I always have to explain that I have my own website – then they seem to get it. :) Looking forward to the next COS event.
