A Peek Inside: Decorate Workshop + Giveaway

I have a special treat for you today – a sneak peak and a chance to win a copy of Holly Becker’s new book, Decorate Workshop – Design and Style Your Space in 8 Creative Steps. You may know Holly from her hugely popular blog, Decor8. My blog is one of the stops on a two week blog book tour being sponsored by Chronicle Books. I was excited to be a part of it and got even more excited when the book arrived in my mailbox last week.

This is one of those books that you will find yourself immersed in immediately – not because it is suspenseful, but rather because it is engaging and interactive. Decorate Workshop is a decorating book like no other. Yes, it is filled with pretty rooms and inspiration and comes with a colorful french book jacket filled with images that Holly loves that unfolds into art for your walls, but it is so much more. It is a true workbook in every sense of the word and Holly is your helping hands-on guide.

Holly wrote the book in a way that allows you to interact with her and follow her prompts throughout the book – you will find yourself writing in it, highlighting, and turning the page corners over. That is the book’s purpose – to engage and guide you to be able to decorate your home in a way that will make you happy. You will want to put the kettle on, grab a snugly throw, and a pen or pencil so you can delve right into learning how Holly breaks the process of decorating down into her 8 steps.

I enjoyed reading Part 2 the best, because if you don’t know what your personal style is – then you are never going to feel comfortable in your own home. Putting your personal stamp on your space just makes it that much better and more interesting – no more cookie cutter approaches that lead to wasted money and unhappy rooms.

After reading and interacting with Holly through the book, you will find you have fresh eyes and the confidence to tackle any space. Your home will start to feel just right and that is the key to rooms that not only look good, but that make you feel just as good living in them.

This book is the one that you will never be able to part with after reading, because not only is Holly’s advise right on, but you will be putting so much of yourself into it – you will want to use it a reference. It is a keeper.

I just read about your favorite things and I too adore the old movies you love. I agree Christmas wouldn’t be the same without the Andy Williams Christmas album playing in the background. It is the first Christmas music I play every year. I got a little chocked up listening to it this year. Luckily I got to go to his Christmas show with my mother a couple years ago.
