This is where I have been relaxing and hanging out the past few weekends as well as in the evenings enjoying the nice weather. It is my little piece of paradise right outside my back door.
Right now, I have a production line of furniture painting going on in my family room. I will post about that soon.
Since I do so much painting and “make-overing” in the house ( I just made that a word), I like to have some place to go in the warmer months where I can go to get away and relax, read, have a drink and dine alfresco.
A place that feels like I am taking a little vacation from all my projects, especially on the weekends. I try to create this in my back yard.
Last year I decked my deck out with outdoor Polywood rockers made with recycled milk jugs. Ed and I loved them so much we even used one in the family room during the winter, but what I loved most about them was that they are super comfy, well made and low maintenance!
When it came time to replace more of our outdoor furniture this summer we decided to go with more Polywood from the Amish furniture makers DutchCrafters.
There were two uncomfortable chaise loungers on the concrete patio around our pool that no one ever used. We replaced them with two Amish Poly Wood SeaAira Adirondack Chairs and ottomans along with a conversation table from the Finch Poly Furniture Collection.
Polywood furniture is made with modern, eco-friendly poly material that utilizes post-consumer recycled plastic, turning what would normally be waste, into beautiful furniture! It is manufactured and engineered to resist fading, cracking, splintering and developing mold and mildew – all it needs to clean is a hose :-)
The material also allows your furniture to survive the harshest winters, leaving it free of chips, splinters, cracks or dry rot when the season is over.
The other thing I like about the furniture is that it is made right in the United States in my home state in the quaint heart of Pennsylvania’s Amish Country and is delivered straight to your backyard wherever you live.
I also like the the fact that our outdoor space is becoming more respectful to Mama Earth for style that is simple, sustainable and fills our needs beautifully.
It was hard trying to choose what color I wanted for the new outdoor furniture as there are so many color options on the DutchCrafters site – over 18, plus you can also choose to combine colors on each piece. I decided to get the furniture made in Finch Weatherwood.
It looks like driftwood, which makes me feel a little bit more like I am at the beach :-) It also goes best with the outdoor dining tables I have already.
I am excited to use the round conversation table to stage all the chairs around when we have friends over. A comfy place to sit and a place to set food and drinks as we enjoy each other’s company.
The furniture is sturdy but easy to move. I ordered the optional add-on ottomans for each Adirondack chair to make them more versatile. I have used them to stretch out my legs to get a little sun on them while reading a book…
and also removed them for classic Adirondack style comfort.
I even brought out a snuggly throw blanket to use at night when I like to come outside with a cup of tea to stargaze before I go to bed.
Now my only wish for my backyard would be a view of a lake or ocean…it will have to remain a dream for now.
