I am so excited to tell you that I am featured today over at handmadenews.org.  Sara Moore who is the head of the content department over there contacted me a while back about interviewing me.  To say I was honored is an understatement.

I hope you have a nice weekend.  Mine starts today as I worked overtime early in the week and get to take tomorrow off.  YEAH!!!!   Now you know why I had so few posts this week.   Thinking about a 3- day weekend was how I got thru working 12 hour days.   I am still pondering what I am going to do with my ” free” day.  

 Maybe a trip to Ikea or Anthropologie in the afternoon.  I haven’t been in a long time and need some fresh and modern inspiration.

Sounds like a plan, anyone want to come with me?

I love the bling factor of vintage jewels.  I am not sure why I am so drawn to them, perhaps it’s the colors, the styling, or their history.  Whatever it is I can’t pass them up when I see them at a flea market or a yard sale, especially if there are a bunch of various pieces in a box for one price.  I bring them home and play with them for hours until I get ideas on how to use them.  

   At one time I had earrings on the site too, but the bracelets seem to be the best selling item.   When I get the time, I will add more items. I also need to do some house cleaning over there since starting In My Own Style I have ignored keeping everything tidy.

To wear any of the pieces in their original state can look dated.  If  you have the right style and attitude – you can carry them off as a bit funky.  I found when a few of the pieces are placed together, they can  look downright - irresistible.   I  re-styled some of my stash into bracelets with a modern touch.  If you would like to check them out you can look around my website.  I have a link in my left sidebar or you can link right here – styledi.com
