I got a new toy over the weekend. It is white with a pretty pink cover and something that I have been wanting for a long time.
I finally got an iPad. I have been saving up my pennies. On Saturday I walked into Best Buy and was in and out in 15 minutes as I knew exactly what I wanted. I have been playing with it since.
I have been sick the past week – a rotten head cold and cough that just won’t go away. I gave it to Ed, so we both are sick now, although since I have had it longer, I feel a bit better. I tried to take it easy over the weekend, to rest up for a big week ahead. It was a nice day here after a few days of pouring rain – bright and sunny. The grass is green again. My studioffice is enjoying all the sunshine -it gets a lot of afternoon light. It is my favorite time of the day to spend in here.
One of the reasons I wanted to get an iPad, was to use it when I travel. I usually take my laptop when I travel, but that is my main computer and if anything happened to it, I would be without a computer until I got a replacement. Not a good thing, since my computer is basically the life of my business. I also don’t like to travel loaded down with bags. I like to stroll through the airport and hotel with ease. I like effortless. Do you see Jane above? I put Jane on my iPad wallpaper. So chic, so stylish and gets everything done effortlessly with a press of a button. Love her! My iPad makes me feel a bit closer to her lifestyle of button pressing to get tasks done.
I am traveling to Utah for the Snap Conference that begins on Thursday morning.
Lindsay put together a slide show using some of the photos from a few of our paint projects. If you would like to follow along –we will be using the hashtags #snapconf #paint.
Since I am speaking at the conference, I have some extra stuff to bring, so I am checking a bag. Normally, I take a carry-on and pack everything in that. All I want on the plane is a tote bag in which I can place my purse, iPad :) , phone, papers, book, and magazines. I have the choice narrowed down between two totes. A pink one that I traveled with last summer. I took this photo of Trax as I was trying to leave for that trip. He wanted to go with me. Pink is his color, don’t you think?
The other option is a vintage Helen Kaminski tote that was my mother-in-law’s. It looks like the one below. It is smaller, so I think I am going to go with that. I also have a pink polka dot scarf to tie on to it.
I should have titled this post – My Love of Pink. I am reminded of Kaye Thompson who put it so eloquently in the opening number of the Audrey Hepburn film, Funny Face:
“Banish the black, burn the blue, and bury
the beige. From now on, girls… Think
Pink! and that even means the kitchen sink.”
While I am on the topic of color.
My latest post over at My Colortopia is all about color – new, fun color schemes to refresh and update your home. Color, it can make a huge difference in your life, even if you add just a little of it. My colors are the one I entitled, To The Beach – a new take on beach colors. I put together 8 color schemes – can you choose just one?
While I have been playing with my new toy, I have one app that I love. I have been using it on my iPhone for the past few months. It is called – Any.Do It is the best to-do list ever! It has a simple interface with swipes to cross things out and the ability to just say what you want done.
What are your favorite apps for your iPad. I know a lot of you have them because on a good majority of the emails you send me, I always see – Sent from Sara’s iPad or the name of the reader that sent me a comment or question.
While I am gone, I have a few posts lined up so things will still look normal here on my blog.
