As your summer calendar begins to fill up with vacations, trips, planes, trains, and long automobile rides having a good book on hand is a necessity.
There is nothing better than losing yourself in a good book, especially when you have nowhere else to be. To celebrate and enjoy summer downtime, I have 8 books to give away to one of you along with a pretty pink and white tote to stylishly take them wherever you are going.
As a blogger, I receive many free books to review. I have not had a chance to read all of these, but have included a quick synopsis of each from the book jackets.
Books the winner will receive:
The Other Language by Francesca Marciano
This is a set of nine short stories. A teenage girl encounters first love during a summer in Greece. A filmmaker impulsively buys a Chanel dress way beyond her means. A brilliant young man flees his charmed life. Each falling in love with someone else, a seemingly perfect couple shed their marriage in the space of one morning. These stories took me to places I’ve never been before; a remote island near east Africa, Greece, India, Kenya…and into unique characters and relationships as well.
Blueprints by Barbara Delisnsky
On her 56th birthday, the network tells Caroline MacAfee it wants to replace her as host of the family home improvement show, Gut It!, with her daughter, Jamie. What follows is how the blueprints they have built their lives around are challenged.
Tiny Little Things by Beatriz Williams
Set in the mid 60’s Camelot era. The book is filled with unexpected heroes and villains and makes an exclusive Kennedy-esque world accessible. A fascinating look at wealth, love, ambition, secrets, and what family members will and won’t do to protect each other.
The Knock-Off by Lucy Sykes and Jo Piazza
An outrageously stylish, wickedly funny novel of fashion in the digital age, The Knockoff is the story of Imogen Tate, editor in chief of Glossy magazine, who finds her twenty something former assistant Eve Morton plotting to knock Imogen off her pedestal, take over her job, and reduce the magazine, famous for its lavish 768-page September issue, into an app.
China Rich Girlfriends by Kevin Kwan
Kevin Kwan, bestselling author of Crazy Rich Asians, is back with a wickedly funny new novel of social climbing, secret e-mails, art-world scandal, lovesick billionaires, and the outrageous story of what happens when Rachel Chu, engaged to marry Asia’s most eligible bachelor, discovers her birthfather.
Makery Sewing by Kate Smith
Is the latest craft book from Kate Smith, owner of the thriving Makery sewing café workshops. She’s been busy with her needle and sewing machine to bring you a collection of 30 sewing projects spanning highly original fashion, gift and home ideas.
Nantucket Cottages and Gardens by Lesley Lindsay
