This is what I am doing today…
Decorating for Christmas….AGAIN!
What!…. You are probably saying to yourself, “Why would Diane be doing that in January?”
The decorations have stayed up except for the fresh tree in the family room and garland on the staircase that dried out. I took them down right after New Years Day. The storage boxes were never put away.
I bought a new tree about 2 weeks ago to put up and decorate this weekend. The reason…
Better Homes & Gardens is coming on Monday to take photos for their 2014 Special Interest Publication Christmas Ideas issue.
I have known about the visit since before Christmas after almost ignoring the call from Ann Blevins, the magazine’s Editor. She called a few days before Christmas around 5 PM. My daughter answered the phone and called to me and said, “Mom, It is Better Homes and Gardens”.
I was busy and thought it was one of those junk call that you always get around dinnertime and told her to say we were not interested. I thought it was to get me to subscribe to the magazine, and then I thought – Hmmm… they don’t do that. I better see what it is about.
As soon as I hung up with Ann, my mind went into overdrive. Being featured in a national magazine is thrilling but knew that January was not going to be about getting the house back in order for me. It was going to be about finding another fresh tree and greens when all the tree lots closed up shop for the season. I did find a very nice tree and garlands. They have been hanging out in the garage staying cool so they won’t dry out.
The powder room makeover has taken a back seat for a few days while I concentrate on getting the Christmas decorations back up.
I may not post on Monday, but be sure to follow me on Instagram to keep up with a little behind the scenes action.
It is freezing outside here in PA with a blanket of frozen white everywhere you look. That is helping me stay in the holiday spirit. I think a little Christmas music playing in the background may help, too.
