Today I was so excited to share some exciting news with you. I have been asked to be an Expert Contributor for Momtastic.com
I will have my very own column there all about DIY decorating. I am thrilled and was going to do a post all about it, but that will have to wait.
Late yesterday afternoon my sister called to tell me that my mom had passed away. It was a call I knew would be coming, as my mom has been in skilled nursing care for the past two years and we could see her slow decline. She died peacefully in her sleep and my father was with her. Knowing this gives me peace, but it is still very hard when my fond and loving memories of her pop up in my mind – I get a little teary.

My mom was super creative – as kids my brother, sisters and I always had the best projects to turn in at school and always won bike decorating contests, yearbook naming contests, best costume, etc. She always came up with the best designs, slogans, and anything and everything creative.
When I took on too many projects in college, she helped me finish making a quilt one semester that I had to make for a textile class. Of course I got a A + because she not only completed the quilt, she made 2 matching pillows to go with it. I got extra credit.
I know I got my creative spark from her. She was a wonderful mom and I know she would be so proud of me – knowing that I was asked to be part of the Momtastic website doing what I do best – create and share. I truly will think of her in all the projects I post here and for Momtastic.com
