When I woke up this morning, there was a beautiful sunny breeze blowing in my window. The perfect day I thought, then I remembered it was my b-day and thought what a nice present – a beautiful day. Right then and there I decided I was going to put all the things on my “To-do” list off until tomorrow so that I could really just take the day off to enjoy what was being handed to me – the perfect day. Yep – that’s my plan. Celebrating birthdays is not just for kid’s – although it would be fun to wear a party hat, eat cake, and get lots of presents to add to the festivities.
My twin sister, Carol and I when we turned 8.
But I know longer need all that to have the perfect day. I am giving myself the gift of some free time in the middle of the week to do whatever I feel – no deadlines – no projects – just a day to enjoy and savor each moment. I may just sit on my deck swing and listen to the breeze blowing by. I may go visit a favorite shop that I haven’t been to in 2 years, or perhaps I will get a pedicure or haircut to pamper myself a little. Not sure yet, but that is the beauty of a day off or a personal day –we’re so busy watching out for what’s just ahead of us that we don’t take the time to enjoy the sweet little moments – like a beautiful breezy day. Today – the “out of office” sign is up. This day is truly mine and I am going to go seize it.
How did you spend your last birthday or have you taken a personal day off from work to relax, re-charge, and enjoy a day all to yourself?

I love the tuna post! I love the tape and the crown molding. It took me a little while to figure that one out on a shelf I made last month! Newest follower. Very pretty site! laura

Happy Birthday to you! On my last birthday (January) I spent the day doing what I love to do: decorating! I finished a bedroom makeover for a client. What fun! :-) The next day, I fell and broke my foot. Not fun :-( Best wishes to you on your day. Savor the day and all the beauty it brings to you!
Diane says
Hi Connie-
Thanks for the birthday wishes. Not fun breaking your foot. Ouch!! I hope it healed well and that you don’t have any trouble with it anymore.

Happy Birthday, Diane!!! Hope you are having LOTS of fun, simply enjoying the great things of life, like a lovely breeze and the warmth of the sun. Take note of the joy in your heart and make it last for the whole week long!

Happy Birthday! Hope today was everything you desired it to be and even more. It’s wonderful just to treat ourselves and take time for ourselves. We just don’t do it often enough. My birthday is next week and I am hoping that my daughter and I can go get facials and just hang out together. That would be a perfect day for me. Again, Happy Birthday!

Hi Diane,
I want you to know that I am following along and read your posts but don’t often comment. For some reason, every time I try to post a comment I have to do the 3 step sign in again…so annoying…and totally NOT your fault.
Anyway, just wanted to tell you to enjoy your time off. I soooo need some time for me too! xo Diana

Thanks Diana. I did have a nice day off. Of course it went by way to fast. Sorry about the commenting. I wonder if anyone else has the problem?

Happy birthday so hope it was the beautiful day you had in mind, and hope your entire year is filled with many smiles, much laughter and an abundance of happiness. Glad you took the day off, sometimes we need to give ourselves permission to just put everything on hold and indulge in absolutely nothing! (I did this week for 3 wonderful days at the beach, tomorrow I go home but with renewed vigor and energy) Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!!! What a great day! It’s beautiful here in Central Illinois too! I spent my last birthday (40th) packing to leave the next day on a trip to Florida with 11 other friends from high school. We were celebrating our year of 40th birthdays! Have a great day!!!

Happy Birthday! I am celebrating my birthday today, as well. What a wonderfully beautiful day here in Maryland. It’s such a gift. The only thing better than being here would to be at the shore (Long Beach Island, NJ).
Enjoy!
Diane says
Hi Amy-
Happy Birthday to you, too. It is truly gorgeous here – we are going to eat outside and enjoy till the sun goes down. I agree the only thing nicer would be to be down the shore. I hope you are having a wonderful b-day.

Good for you Diane! You go, girl! : ) Happy Birthday, too! I am surprised at the cool breeze we have here today, too. I was expecting humidity, but we were spared. My birthday is Halloween and last year it was on the weekend. I wind up giving to others that day anyway – even if it is candy!
Diane says
Hi Kathy-
What a fun day to be born on – makes it doubly special. It is supposed to get humid later for the 4th weekend. Too bad it can’t be like today.

Sounds perfect! I say relax on the deck and get a pedicure :) And you’re right this is a beautiful day in southeastern PA – bright blue skies, sun, breeze, and most importantly low humidity – hooray! Well enjoy your day and have a scrumptious birthday dinner as well!
Diane says
Thanks Holly-
I bought some Lobster tails at Super Walmart yesterday. We are going to grill them. They look good and were quite inexpensive. I am hoping they are scrumptious. Enjoy the evening.

Well Happy Birthday! Today is mine as well. :)
I’m working for a bit, pulled some electrical permits and am trying to figure out how to turn a framed mirror into a two-door medicine cabinet, to replace the ugly sliding door medicine cabinet in place.
Enjoy your day.
