This week I have been watching the painters outside the sliding glass door in my studioffice – powerwash my house, caulk it – which took a long time. I know my house has lots of angles and eaves that would be difficult to get to, but the painters are quite creative in how they use and position the ladders to get to all the corners, angles and eaves.
I couldn’t focus on much else this week and while I was watching I picked up a few pro painting tips that I will be sharing with you soon.
I am very happy with the color and will share more when the painting is completed which should be Tuesday.
To end my work week, I thought I would share a “few things” with you…
The last thing I pinned… was this entrance of a gazillon dollar home on another lake in South Carolina that is on the western side of the state.
It was described as a serene and tranquil lake house with a serene color palette and comfortable furnishings that create a cozy cottage aesthetic.
Which kind of describes what I am going for on a very smaller scale with a teeny modern touch thrown in for my house. I like the ceiling on this porch and could do something similar with paint like I did for my home
The last thing I absolutely flipped over… learning this tip about cutting hydrangeas.
Now I know what I have been doing wrong all these years :-)
The last thing I watched on Netflix… Fanny’s Journey.
As the Nazis tighten their grip on France, a young girl leads a group of Jewish children on a daring journey to freedom in this drama based on a true story. It will have you on the edge of your seat and cheering at the end.
The last thing I added to my beauty routine… I am such a DIYer in all aspects of my life. Ed gave me a gift certificate to a day spa where I had a facial. It was nice, but when I saw the microdermabrasion tools, cleansers and creams they used, I knew I could buy similar ones myself and give myself a really good facial at a fraction of the cost. This tool has really made a difference removing dull skin and softening the lines that are creeping into my almost 60 year old skin.
The last thing I bought that I probably didn’t need… is this romper. I like simple stylish pieces for summer that can take me from not always wearing paint and workout gear. I can quickly put this on when I head out to the supermarket, mall, thrift store and a date night dinner out.
The last thing that I read… Big Style, Small Spaces by fellow blogger Sarah Dorsey who is also a professional interior designer.
I love everything she creates, even if it is not my style of decor I know I can tweak the projects to fit my personal decorating style. I like to see her detailed execution and results which are always fabulous.
In her book she has created over 30 beautiful, multifunctional décor projects that are perfect for a small home. All of the projects are doable in a single weekend―or even a day―and budget-friendly, making it easy to create the stunning space of your dreams.
If you would like win a copy of the book, simply leave me a comment telling me you would like to win the book. I will randomly choose a winner on Monday. This giveaway is over. The winner is: Ashleigh Hall
I hope you have a nice weekend ahead… I will be doing a few small projects – one with paint, one with Miss Mustard Seed’s Milk Paint and another with stain. I can’t wait to show you these next week along with more of the exterior house painting progress.
