Do you remember back in the early summer when I took part in the first Painted Fox Challenge? I received a vintage reproduction hardware bin and showed you two ways to use it. Since then, it has become one of my favorite things in my kitchen.
Today 9 bloggers are up for a second challenge to see how we use random unique items in our home.
These were the items I received for the challenge – One 17″ high Wood and Metal Lantern, one 15″ Wood and Metal Lantern , and a set of Chicken Wire Jars
When I was shopping at Whole Foods last week and saw these colorful flowers, I knew one way I would be using the chicken wire jars. I placed a candle in the smaller one so at night when most of the kitchen lights are off and you can’t see the flowers – the candle glows and makes the area around the sink look magical.
I don’t have a lot of rustic pieces in my decor, but nothing says Fall more than rustic style in my mind.
I also liked the smaller jar as a pencil holder on my kitchen desk. It pairs nicely with the stripped wood cabinet and my faux marble desk top.
I know the jar will last a long time, I wish the flowers could too.
The wood and metal lanterns are perfect for this time of year when I like to sit outside in the early evening with a cup of tea. It is getting chilly, but not too cold.
I have been placing the 17″ lantern on the deck next to one of my rocking chairs and the other is up on the sideboard. Having 2 helps spread the dreamy candle light. I will fill the tall lantern as my collection grows. I find many on my daily walks this time of year.
I plan to use the lanterns by my front door on Halloween night to welcome the Trick-or-Treaters.
How would you use these two items from Painted Fox Treasures?
