Happy Sunday – how is your weekend going?

I know that for many readers, the end of August is when life gets busy and revolves around your kids going back to school. As an empty nester, “back-to-school time” is no longer on my calendar.

For me, the past week has been very quiet, which is a nice way to spend the weeks leading up to Labor Day. Even though I am not on vacation, taking it slow and easy feels like a perfect way to spend August at home with a few thoughts floating through my mind about the upcoming fall and holiday season. As a blogger I need to plan ahead. :-)

How about you, how are you spending the end of August – getting back to school, just hanging out, or on a beach somewhere enjoying an August vacation?

  1. Love to go through all your links on your style scouting post! It’s one of my Sunday afternoon “rest time” activities. But I’m dying to know what lamp is taking over NYC!! Apparently the reader must be a subscriber to the NYTimes to get the link; the popup tells me I’ve viewed my one free article so I don’t have access. Boo!
Oh well, I probably wouldn’t buy it anyway…..

Hi Bonnie – Thanks for reading my Sunday posts. Many readers enjoy this weekly post also, so it makes me feel good to put it together every week. The lamp taking over NYC is in restaurants. Instead of candles or overhead lights, these Pina Pro lamps are being used. They offer an intimate and cozy light that adds just the right dinner ambiance. You can see the lamp here: https://zafferanoamerica.com/products/pina-lamp

In the NYTimes article you can see black ones in use on actual tables in a restaurant. I would love to get one to use when I have people over for dinner to add a chic bistro feel. :-)

  2. I remember flying to France in 1968 on TWA with real china dishes and glasses–in the “cheap seats”. Getting dressed up to go to the airport.
    Loved the colorful beach house!

  3. What a lovely post! So many great links. I do like the stone interior walls, and both of the beach houses. The flatbread looks delicious, but maybe time consuming. Saving the link to try this winter. And wow, wish that I could travel to even half of those US Islands! I’ve been to a few of them but will definitely add more of those featured to my travel list. Thanks for all the inspiration and have a great week!

  4. I so enjoy reading your posts Diane and I have to say the white cottage house is my favourite, I didn’t get to see the dress because it didn’t allow viewing in my neck of the woods UK. Thats ok I enjoyed looking and places I will never see, its a great feeling.x

Hi Janette – Thanks for reading and commenting. I agree with you, getting to look at places online that you will never get to see. Sorry that the Gap didn’t allow you to open the shirt in the UK. I hope you have a great week.
