Style Scouting: Vol. 134

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

We had an extended power outage on my street this week. Talk about the things you take for granted – electricity!

Of course to make matters worse, the warm weather that we enjoyed last week is gone and the house not only got cold, but dark at night.

I am so glad I had lots of battery-operated candles that I could turn on so I could see around the house at night. It did make for a very cozy place to read by candlelight as that was about all we could do.

The power has returned and life is back to normal. And for other good news – the first day of spring is tomorrow. Happy Spring everyone!

Posts You May Have Missed This Week:

Now onto the inspiring links I found this week.

Decorating

Look at how even a small amount of wallpaper can spruce up a room.

This designer’s portfolio.

I love everything in this home, especially the pantry door.

This pretty beach home that isn’t too beachy.

I agree with everything in this post about decorating.

DIY

Oh so pretty… Look what you can do with coffee filters!

Jazz up a stool with pattern and color.

I like to find ways to reuse glass jars, but have never seen this creative idea using one.

Food

I forgot all about this easy dessert recipe I used to make all the time that is a crowd pleaser.

Spritz cookies are not only for Christmas any more. Check out these cheery springtime Spritz cookies.

I think these are the cutest cinnamon buns I have ever seen.

Out & About

A stay of any length would be a nice treat at this Inn.

Gardening

Thinking about starting a herb garden this year, but don’t have the space. This is a very clever idea for one.

Fun & Interesting

If you like to walk for exercise, this looks interesting.

In my previous life, I think I was a seismologist. I can never learn enough about earthquakes.

Something to Think About

Why you should make it a habit to have more fun.

Why good is better than best.

  1. Speaking of coffee filter flowers, I made corsages and boutonnieres for my kids and their friends and/or dates for homecomings and proms when they were in high school. Matched them to their dresses, with their date if they wanted. When we went for photos, a lot of the parents raved about them, not knowing they were paper! Kids loved them, and have a special treasure to hold on to.

  2. Thank for for all of the great links!

  3. Loved the article on finding your decorating style and not following trends. Amanda Marie is a blog I follow. I think she has a beautiful home and I love her antiques.

  4. That pantry door is gorgeous!!
Love the Easter candy jar idea too💗

  5. Love every idea😍. Loved that pantry door. Wish I had a walk in pantry. Can’t wait to try those recipes.

    Happy Spring🌸🌷

  6. Lots of great links today. Especially love the cute Easter candy jars and the link to the beautiful Italian made cookie press. My daughter “borrowed” mine and never returned it. I love the simplicity and buttery goodness of Spritz Cookies. I guess I have a hankering for sweets this morning. Just looked up a Walk with Doc. Better for me than sweets. There is a location not too far from me!

  7. Thank you for sharing the Easter candy jar craft with the adorable animal figurines, I never would have found that on my own. I wanted to tell you about a show I’m really enjoying & you may too as you live by the water – “Beach Cottage Chronicles” on Discovery /Magnolia network. (It’s not a flip or real estate show). I’ve really enjoyed everyone’s stories & unique homes.

The stacked picnic baskets in the link about not following trends are so cool. I totally see them in your home.

  10. Your blog is the best. I actually read what you write and then click on each link. Today I have pinned the coffee filter flower (that I am going to do), pinned the herb garden pallet (for my sister who I potted 22 herbs a few years back), and joined the newsletter Walk with Doc (have to see if it is in my area – sounds like fun though.
I am telling you this so you know that your blog is very useful and even more appreciated for the work you do to give us your “finds”.
    Thank You,
