Style Scouting: Vol. 146

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

Lately, I have been enjoying time outside while it is still nice and before the end of June into July and August temperatures make it too hot to sit outside in comfort during the day.

Ed bought me a new outdoor ottoman for my upcoming birthday (at the end of the month) to go with the two rattan rockers we have had since the first year we moved to the lake house.

With the dappled shade on the deck and my feet up on the new ottoman, computer on my lap, I updated a few older posts and redesigned a few pages on the blog, including my shop page that was previously one long list that never loaded on computers very well.

Being able to work outside is one benefit when the weather is nice of owning an online business that I will never take for granted. XO

Now onto this week’s links.

Posts You May Have Missed This Week:

Decorating

A home where every room is bright, cheery and stylish. And another home by the same design team decorated in a different style that I loved just as much.

I am happy to see these becoming popular again in decorating as there are so many ways to use them.

I would love to be able to hang out here.

A very pretty yet calmly decorated home.

DIY

Adding a French door look to plain glass doors.

This outdoor side table is quite clever.

These pretty petal vases can be made in a jiffy.

Home Improvement

This small yard before and after makeover.

Food

This side dish that can be served with anything this summer.

Peanut butter and chocolate lovers – enjoy!

French Toast breakfast sandwiches – yes please!

Make any pan non-stick by doing this.

Out & About

Good to know if you are flying anywhere this year.

A new to me line of decor from the Williams Sonoma brand.

Watching & Reading

Just borrowed this book for my Kindle from my local library via the Libby app. Have you read it?

Fashion & Beauty

When I saw this outfit posted byJen at Rambling Renovators this past week, I couldn’t help but smile. Memories of an outfit just like it back in the late 1960’s that I loved and wore when I was about 10 came flooding back to me. So cute, but pricey.

This pretty dress is only $28. It looks so chic in black.

Fun & Interesting

Your June horoscope.

I would love to live in one of these… and they are giving them away for free.

How much fun would this have been to come across this week when traveling along the highway in California.

Something to Think About

A reminder…. Use the nice plates. Eat the cake. Buy the flowers. Don’t wait for a special occasion.

Enjoy the week ahead. XO Diane

  1. Always love your blog! You post the most creative ideas and your directions are so detailed. We read The Henna Artist for my book group and loved it and also read the sequel. Put your feet up on that new ottoman and enjoy!

Your post was especially good this week! Lots of new information. One thing I think I missed. In one of the comments, the reader/writer mentioned the “parchment paper trick.” What was it or where can I find it? Also, I want to start getting your blog at a different email address. It is [email protected].

Hi Dianne – I can change your email address, but need to clarify what your previous one was. Was it at valornet.com? Once I know, I can easily change it for you. Thanks for being a subscriber. As for the parchment paper tip the link it is under the food heading in my post. How to make any pan non-stick.

  3. So many things to write about! Loved everything. Love that Cafe Curtains are out there again. Have always loved that look.

I just took some of my china dessert plates out from my server and placed them in our hutch last week. Out of site out of mind. Great mantra to remind us of.

  4. I love cafe curtains, I have two.
Did not know the parchment paper trick! Loved reading about the cute air bnb on the water, and now nice to put your feet up with a beautiful ottoman. Game changer!

  5. Love that brightly colored house. Stunner!
    and the lighthouse, sigh!

  6. Love your something to Think About reminder! Perfect mantra to start the new week. Enjoyed seeing the small backyard makeover you linked to along with all the other good links. Love the ottoman Ed picked out :) for your birthday. Perfect!
