Style Scouting: Vol. 56

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

After coming back from a beach getaway and returning to very hot and humid weather, along with the state of the world, I am starting to crave fall and creating cozy in the house.

How about you. Are you ready for fall?

Posts You May Have Missed This Week:

I like the traditional, but casual air of this home.

Decorating

Have you seen Martha’s new kitchen colors?

For anyone who likes to decorate using blue & white.

I think it is going to be earth tones for me this fall – Cozy and minimal.

DIY

A nice furniture makeover... goodbye orange wood tone table.

Something that you can do in your kitchen to add interest.

Don’t like a throw pillow? Try this.

One very great looking IKEA hack.

Crafts

If you have a cat or small dog, this is a creative repurposing idea.

This makes me want to learn how to crochet.

Food

A recipe to file away for when the first crisp fall evening.

Fashion & Beauty

Looks like a top sold at J.Crew, but for a lot less.

Fun & Interesting

A good use for an abandoned building.

This community effort is really special and colorful, but what happens to it when it rains?

For what it is worth…. keep this in mind.

  1. Always enjoy your posts, thank you. Regarding Martha’s kitchen – she has a staff of many to keep all of that copper looking tip-top; no thanks, I seem to have other things to do with my time. My copper is limited to a couple of Moscow Mule mugs!

Thank you so much for including my pillow post this week!

Hi Paula – I loved that you painted your pillow – so smart and perfect for an outdoor pillow that gets abuse from the elements. So happy to share it with my readers. :-)

  3. Brenda Pruitt says:

About the throw pillows, I used to just buy the throw pillows. But like you say, then you have to store them all. So now I buy the pillow covers and in an apartment, so much easier to store them!

Hi Brenda – HomeGoods needs to get the pillow covers are better memo! :-)

Love your Sunday shares, Diane! Paula at Sweet Pea (pillow painting) was my sister’s college roommate! Small world!

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Carol – That is such a coincidence. When I first starting blogging, one reader figured out that my husband and hers where childhood friends, even though neither of them lived in the same area anymore. Small world for sure. :-)

  5. Thankyou Diane for making these posts so interesting, I always look forward to reading and browsing.xx

  6. Hope you had a relaxing vacation. I read the book that you recommended this week. I think it was called “The Last Thing He Said To Me” but can’t be sure since i’ve already returned it to the library. It was a good book. Thanks for the recommendation. Enjoyed this blog post with all the beautiful homes.

Hi Nancy – So glad you enjoyed the book. I have to get my reading list updated as I read the last few I had on our vacation. As always – thanks for reading my blog.

  7. My daughter lives in Kaysville Utah so I shared the IG post about the ‘little things add up’ in case she know anyone in the post. How cool!!
