Style Scouting: Vol. 85

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

Ed and I went to see the Broadway production of the Lion King on Thursday. Have you seen it? We have season tickets to Broadway in Columbia and enjoy all the productions we go to.

What made this one special – it was a date night out for us – a first in two years :-) and the costumes – talk about creative! A big round of applause for the costume designers – they are one very creative group. The costumes were the best I have ever seen – so creative, especially the giraffes.

Now onto the links I found this week.

Posts You May Have Missed This Week:

Decorating

This is one very pretty cabin, if you can call it that. I love every room.

The Ojai house where the Windfall on Netflix was filmed – it is actually an inn.

Such a great idea to add more space and interest in a kitchen.

DIY

A pretty warm weather throw blanket to make.

These are so cute on pillows.

Organizing

Would your bookshelves benefit from one of these ideas?

Home Improvement

Ed and I installed one of these in our living room in our previous house. It made arranging furniture in the middle of the room much easier.

I never would have thought to paint this black – it looks amazing!

Food

Such a cute idea for Easter brunch.

Have you heard of Broccoli tea? I ordered the plain black version this week. It sounds gross, but it is so smooth – no broccoli taste, just a healthy tea. It is made by John Hopkins University.

Healthy lunch ideas.

Baked Orzo is a favorite in my family since I was a kid. This recipe looks like another good one.

Fashion & Beauty

Anybody use this? I am tempted.

This simple dress is perfect for running summer errands.

  1. Always a surprise from you, Diane! That darling linen/flannel ruffled throw blanket is in the works. My SIL gifted me with some blush pink linen yardage she scored at a tag sale; it’s been in my sewing closet for over a year. Those mini wooden cup tassels are just too cute! I might have to make some just to have them.

  2. Enjoyed the post with the amazing house. I couldn’t help thinking about the size and time it would take to keep the house clean. I am so into downsizing these days.

  3. I have tried the temporary face firmer and it does just what it says on the tube. It tightens things temporarily. Very temporarily. It’s almost as if you coated your face with a thin layer of glue and let it dry. It would feel tighter and probably look tighter, if the glue were translucent enough. But there would be no lasting benefit and it would feel odd. I would use it maybe for a photo if I needed to try to look tighter but I have never used it regularly since trying it a few times and, for me, it was a waste of money.

Hi Mary – Thanks for taking the time to tell me about the face firmer. I appreciate it! I will forget about it. Too good to be true. :-) Maybe someday there will be product(s) that really do what they say.

  4. I really want to try the Firmx too…let us know if you do and get results please 💜
That house is gorgeous. I hadn’t heard of this show…thanks for the info!!

Hi Lynn – Two readers wrote to me that the Firmx was a waste of money. They didn’t like it, so I am not going to buy it.

  5. I love the dress but it is sleeveless. The older I get ( 73) the more I hate my arms and I find myself looking for dresses with sleeves or three quarter sleeves. Maybe, I am just one of those weird people who always looks at my imperfections. They say we are to embrace our bodies but that is hard sometimes. That being said you have so many good things to try in your post today. Thank you for sharing such wonderful content. Hugs to Zoe and family.

Hi Betty – I totally understand about not wanting to wear sleeveless tops and dresses. I don’t like tank tops at all, but will wear sleeveless if the cut is right. :-).

  6. Angie @ Postcards from the Ridge says:

Loved the house from Windfall. That dress is nice too! Always enjoy your blog posts.

Hi Angie – Thanks. I enjoy finding interesting links to share with readers. I hope you have a great week.

  7. Look for the Peter Roth FIRMx in a tiny sample size at Ulta or Sephora before buying a large tube. You might like it but I didn’t.

First time commenting but your blog is an absolute favorite!

Hi Barb – Another reader didn’t like the Firmx either, so 2 negative reviews is all I need to save my money and not buy it. :-). Thanks for taking the time to comment. I am glad you did and hearing that my blog is your fave – made my day. Thanks
