Style Scouting: Vol. 96

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting, my Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

Summer is in full swing around my house, from the weather to hosting family and friends we haven’t seen in awhile.

The last two years with the pandemic altering vacations and travel for many, our house was so quiet. Now with the ease up of restrictions, the Henkler Hacienda has been a hopping hotel. :-)

Soon after someone leaves, another one arrives. It is so nice to finally see and catch up with the family and friends.

Enjoying the visits with everyone however takes away from creating new blog posts.

I am excited though to do a makeover on something I found on Friday at my local thrift store. I was not sure if I was going to go, but the shop is only open on Friday afternoons, so I decided to go as you just never know what you will find.

I am so glad I went, because even before getting out of my car I spotted something I have been looking for outside the shop.

As the saying goes…. the thrill of the hunt. :-)

Stay tuned for what I found.

Decorating

Such pretty kitchens and rooms in this Instagram feed.

I sure would like to step inside this home.

A just published decorating book and a Spotify playlist to go with it.

DIY & Crafts

This by far is the most creative furniture makeover I have ever seen!

Wow! This ordinary backyard shed looks so much better now!

These are sooo cute. I will be making a few with my granddaughter when Ed and I go to visit her next month.

A clever way to paint a stool.

On my to-do list.

Organizing

I have never embraced spreadsheets and online tools for list making and more. I prefer using these, so nice to see that I am not the only one.

Home Improvement

I still like them, but I kind of knew this about home improvement shows.

What a great idea for any home that has a large garden where feet get wet and dirty or is along a body of water.

Food

Have you heard or seen a watermelon cake? Wow!

What to make now that it is strawberry season.

A summertime drink made into a pie, oh my yumminess!

Out & About

Since I always have to have a hat on when outside and traveling – this little gadget sure helps when out and about.

Fashion & Beauty

It is always interesting to see what beauty products famous women use.

Fun & Interesting

We had to remove the bird feeder’s in our yard because they were bringing rodents and snakes! But we kept the hummingbird feeders. After reading this I now know how to attract more of them.

I recently shared about airline travel tips here before, but learned a few new things about the airlines, tips and getting upgrades in this very informative post.

Something to Think About

I miss seeing these. They were such a huge part of summer evenings when I was growing up.

This may be the greatest gift you could ever give yourself.

Regarding the home improvement shows, I found I was watching them obsessively, and then I found my sense of discontent growing – my home just didn’t live up to the image. When I did get estimates for a minor remodel I was SHOCKED that they were so high compared to what I was seeing on the shows until I realized that the shows were unrealistic in budget, timeline, expectations. I still watch these programs from time to time, one can find ideas to use or adapt. I choose to find peace and pleasure and remember the many blessings in my life.
