How to organize small items like skincare and makeup on a counter or under a bathroom sink with a clear acrylic 3-tier bathroom counter organizer. Don’t limit only using it in a bathroom though, as it works equally well for holding and keeping craft supplies or other smaller items handy in any room.

I usually organize small items in my home with all kinds of organizing baskets from wicker baskets that I find at thrift stores to plastic dollar store baskets.

Recently I shared with you how I was going to add pull-out sliding basket organizers in the cabinet under my bathroom sink. Sadly, even though I measured, the slide-out basket organizers didn’t fit right. The plumbing for the sink got in the way.

I had to find another way to organize my beauty products and skincare.

360 Degree Rotating Makeup or Craft Organizer

This 3 tiered bathroom organizer was made to to place on a vanity or bathroom counter for skincare and makeup items, but can be used to hold small items in any room.

When I came across this rotating 3-tier bathroom counter organizer online, I ordered one to try it out.

It is sold to use as a bathroom counter organizer which would keep my cosmetics very handy, so I tried it on the counter. It has 2 removable compartment trays on the top tier to hold lipsticks, makeup brushes, nail polish or small items.

I didn’t keep the tiered organizer on the counter though as I have a large sectioned drawer under the counter where I keep the small jars of lotions and potions and makeup I use every day.

What I wanted was an easy access organizer to keep the extra beauty essentials I keep under the sink and the large items that do not fit in the drawer.

I could not be happier with it.

Not only does it rotate, it was super easy to assemble – no tools or DIY skills needed which was a nice treat for me since I usually make things from scratch.

How to Assemble The Tiered Bathroom Counter Organizer

Time needed: 10 minutes.

How to Assemble 3 Tier Bathroom Counter Organizer

  1. Lay Out the Parts

Open up the plastic wrap around the organizer parts and place on table.

  2. Fit Flat Sections Together

The organizer comes with simple directions or you can watch the video on the product’s Amazon page. It is so easy to assemble I don’t think you will need to watch it.

Fit the two flat sections together – one gets pushed into the other to create a center X section.

Place bottom of center X section into the rotating base section making sure to keep the notched center of the X section at the top.

Secure the X section into the base using the rubber washers. They stretch over the prongs that go into the base.

Repeat on the other X sections under the base.

  5. Arrange Shelves

The 4 shelves on the organizer can be placed at different heights for each of the 4 sections.

Place what you want on the bottom shelf of the organizer to determine where to place each of the 4 second tier shelves.

To secure the shelves, place hook into the slot on the base then push the shelf left to lock it in place. Add a rubber washer over the hook.

    Repeat for each shelf.

  1. There is something so satisfying about figuring out a good way to organize things that ‘just works’! Once you have that ‘perfect’ system- it amazes me how long it took to get there.

I have narrow cabinets that are pretty high up in my kitchen. No container seemed to fit its specific measurements- so I built a very thin (3/4″ plywood) box to store all my baking stuff (non-flour/non-sugar). It doesn’t feel very sturdy- but (fingers crossed) it’s worked pretty well so far.

    1. Hi Kat – Very clever idea – DIY-made just for your needs for the win! :-) Since the boxes are in a cabinet – they should be safe and last a very long time. :-)

  2. I’m ordering two of these one for under my sink and one for hubby. Great idea…thank you!
Love the Weleda skin food! My skin gobbles it up.
    Happy New Year!

  3. Do you wear Charlie??
I used to wear it and Loved it!!
I didn’t know it could still be found!!

    1. hi Joni – Yes I do wear Charlie. I love the smell. It is my signature scent. :-) It is also one of only a few perfumes I can wear as I am highly sensitive to fragrances in all products in general. I buy it at Walgreens. It is in the locked case, usually on the bottom row. I have also found it at Walmart.

  4. Greetings from snowy Minnesota!

First of all I did not know you were a “Charlie” girl! Remember the commercials?😊. I loved Charlie but didn’t know it was still available.

Love today’s post! I currently have pull out drawers we installed under my bathroom vanities but when we downsize I have noted that tiered unit…great idea.

I like some of the Home Edit pieces…but at Walmart’s prices. They are in my opinion the same quality as The Container Store. Only have purchased a few of the stackable bins and it is a lot easier to track what we store in toiletries and over the counter meds.

    1. Hi June – I am a Charlie girl since the 8th grade. :-) I just love the smell. I buy it at Walgreens and sometimes Walmart has it. I agree that Walmart has great prices for organizers that are the same quality as The Container Store. I used them for my pantry. Saved me lots. The Container Store is fun to go to, but for inspiration. :-)

  5. I found a small rotating cosmetic holder for my bathroom sink vanity counter. It holds my hairbrush, nail things, tweezers, eyeliner pencils, and face moisturizer. I really don’t like my makeup out on the counter but my vanity (I live in an apartment) does not have drawers.
This really looks good in your after pictures.

    1. Hi Pam – Your rotating organizer sounds perfect for your vanity. When it spins it gives you even easier access to the stuff you use on a daily basis and keeps it all contained. Easier to clean the vanity also since you can pick it up as a whole. :-)

  6. Here is my solution. When my home was built I had a wall cabinet which matches the base cabinets installed along with 2 electrical outlets in the back of the cabinet. Instead of placing it higher on the wall I have it resting on the backsplash which is about 3 inches tall and securely attached to the studs in the wall. Now I have 3 shelves which accommodate all my toiletries, my hair dryer, curling iron, etc. and even a small television on the top of the cabinet. It is arm’s length from my sink, and I never have to bend over or search for anything. And I only have to close the cabinet door and the countertop stays clean. I keep a few clean washcloths folded and tucked in the 3 inch space under the cabinet for convenience.

    1. Hi Jean – Adding the wall cabinet close to the counter is a great idea. A very smart way to keep things easily accessible and under wraps at the same time. Thanks for sharing your idea.

  7. This is a great idea! I have 2 of these in my craft room and they hold a lot of items. ALSO, I added a half shelf under my and my husband’s sinks which added a lot of storage space. Like you, the plumbing gets in the way, but just a half of a shelf added more space than you might think. I know your wheels are turning now Diane. Thanks for always sharing your great ideas! I always look forward to your emails.

    1. Hi Judy – Thanks for telling me about how you added just half a shelf under your cabinets. That is a great idea, I will have to see if I can do the same.
