This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The Gorilla Glue Company for IZEA Worldwide. All opinions are 100% mine.
Most of the time I post about the pretty changes and updates I have made to my house since we moved in 3 years ago. Today I am going to show you an easy “fix” on one section of the exterior of my house that just can’t seem to stay undamaged.
When we first moved to the house, the driver of the moving truck backed the truck into the gutter over the garage. It made a big dent and crack in the gutter. He felt so bad about it, but the company paid to have a new gutter installed.
All was good in gutter land until I was painting the garage door a few weeks ago (will share that with you soon) and I noticed that water was dripping down on my head as I painted on the left side of the door. When I looked up to investigate, I could not believe I saw a dent and small crack in the gutter in the same area the moving truck had damaged the gutter.
Since the gutter was replaced, I knew the new dent and crack just couldn’t reappear like a fantom stain on a carpet that keeps reappearing even after you removed it. I knew this could not be the case, since it was completely replaced before. I realized that a delivery truck driver must have hit the gutter… again!…and didn’t realize it or they did and left. :-(
My house has a long driveway with an area next to the house that a car can turn around in. A truck can, but it is a little tight. The delivery drivers don’t have the time to walk down the driveway so they…
…drive down and turn around.
In the spring, one of the drivers was backing up and hit a basketball back board and hoop across from the garage. It fell to the ground and broke.
He replaced it with a new one.
So it is clear to me that the new dent was caused by one of the delivery trucks.
I did manage to bend the gutter back into shape, but a dent and small crack could not be fixed where water has begun to drip when it rains hard like it has this fall. Until now…
Gorilla Waterproof Patch and Seal Tape instantly seals out water, air, and moisture. With an extra thick adhesive layer and UV resistant backing this tape conforms to form a permanent bond indoors and out. At 4″ wide it can patch holes, cracks, gaps and tears, even underwater. Excellent for Home, Auto, Marine, Camping, RVs, Outdoors, and my poor gutter.
How to Apply Gorilla Glue Waterproof Patch & Seal Tape Inside a Gutter To Seal a Crack
Before Applying Patch & Seal Tape:
- Make sure the inside of the gutter is clean.
- Prop your ladder securely against your house so that you can reach inside your gutter. The tape could be attached to the outside of the gutter, but since it is waterproof, I chose to attach it inside the gutter where it would be hidden.
- Consider having a helper keep your ladder in place while you are on it.
- Remove any debris, pine needles, twigs and/or leaves in the gutter. Make sure the area inside the gutter where the drip or leak is clean and dry.
Step 1: Keeping liner on tape, cut tape to desired size. Tape size should be larger than the repair area, extending beyond all edges.
Step 2. Remove the release liner.
Step 3. Place tape over desired repair area. Tape cannot be repositioned once applied.
Step 4. Rub entire surface of the tape aggressively with hand, especially the edges.
That’s it! The tape is:
- WATERPROOF
- WORKS UNDERWATER
- Can be used INDOORS or OUTDOORS
- INSTANTLY SEALS OUT WATER, AIR, & MOISTURE
- 2X MORE TAPE COMPARED TO 5 FT. FLEXIBLE TAPES
and
- IT CREATES A PERMANENT BOND
Now that I know how to use the tape, I think I may see if I can fix the leak in one of the air mattress beds we use when we have a houseful of guests.
Do you have something that is leaking around your house that Gorilla Glue Patch & Seal Tape will fix for you?

I used Gorilla Waterproof Patch & Seal Tape on the bottom of my solar birdbath. Sad to say it did NOT work. It continues to leak nonstop.
I have photos and video if you would like to see what I’m talking about.
Diane Henkler says
Hi Sally – I am not sure why it is not working. Is the birdbath metal or concrete? Concrete is a surface that is hard to attach things. I believe you as it may not work on everything. I have used the tape in two places so far – the gutter I wrote about and earlier this summer we used it to close up a rip in the canvas cover on our boat. It has stayed closed although the hot southern sun soften the adhesive. It spread out around the tape, but the rip has stayed closed.
Have you reached out to Gorilla Glue? They may be able to help you figure out how to make the tape work for your birdbath. Here is there customer service form: http://bit.ly/2Yhn43D

Good to know!! We had a radio show from
Detroit- America’s Handyman Glen Hagae.
He was a gentle and kind man with immense knowledge about home maintenance.
He always said “water will win. “How right he was. I am glad to know of a product that
Does what it claims to do.

SERIOUSLY???
Oh My GOSH! Our RV has a little leak on one of the slide outs, and this would be perfect. But even better than that, we have an expensive air mattress in the RV that developed a leak, and we can’t use it but I still have it. We have tried to “fix it” with tape, but it doesn’t hold. I’m going to try this. I love Gorilla products anyway, and we just recently used another one of the tapes to adhere some 1/2″ x 4′ x 8′ pink, insulated foam board around the lower edge of our 5th Wheel RV to close off the underside. That tape is amazing!

This is pretty impressive. I would try to salvage a couple hoses.

If it comes in clear, I need to repair my leather driver’s side seat. After 16 years of daily use, the leather is splitting at the seam and I need to stop the damage before it goes any further. Or dark gray is also good…
Evelyn says
I did not know about this tape! I threw away our air mattress because of a leak. This could have saved it! And saved me from having to buy a new one. Thank you for sharing!

I had an oval mirror and a collection of really cool shells. My neighbor who is more artistic than me hot glued the shells on in a spray manner that looked fabulous. I know me I would have done it very very symmetrically which is why I got him to do. Long story short the shells began dropping off. The cure for that? Clear Gorilla glue. Dries clear. Perfect!
Carol Ybarra says
I’m going to tell my husband about this. We have our own Handyman business and I think this is something that he will definitely be interested in.

Hi, Diane!
Do you think it would work on my cracked rainboots? Every pair of rainboots I get seems to develop cracks after about a year of use. They are not on the top of the foot area, but right on the sides where puddles can really get my feet wet. (I’m thinking mfgs are using more plastic than rubber in boots these days). My hubby thinks it’s the way I walk, but I don’t think so.
Thanks for the tip,
Carla K says
May try this on small pipe leak

Thanks for information on the Gorilla glue tape. It can be a great problem solver for many projects.
Rochelle Brinson says
This is great. I love GORILLA products. Their heavy duty “duct” tape is amazing. Actually holds posters and signs to brick walls so tight I struggled to pull them off. I’m sure this tape is equally well made. Can’t wait to try it. I too have an air bed that is leaking and it isn’t a cheap one, has the built in pump. Will have to see if it fixes the leak.
Deb Wostmann says
Great to know. I had no idea that product existed.
Mary South says
Too bad about your new gutter but at least you have a cheap solution! Thank you for sharing! I will file this away in my handy solutions.
Karen W. says
Gorilla Glue is great so this tape should be a good solution for your gutter. I will use it to repair pool toys that spring a leak…which happens all too frequently.
MerriJo says
Wow! We use Gorilla glue for many repairs around our house, but I didn’t know about this tape. I’m definitely adding a roll of this to my hubby’s stocking!
Linda Pawlak says
We have a leaky gutter also, and a leaky spot in the wall where the sewer pipe enters the house. Two jobs fixed with one tape. Brilliant!!!!!
Maureen says
WOW I would not have thought about using it for gutters. This glue is really something. It works wonders for many different things. But to know that there is a tape is such a help as well so it holds is really a help.
Jennifer Baron says
I will definitely try this for our gutters, thanks!
Alison says
Good to know! Thanks for the info.
