Style Scouting: Vol. 113

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

It has been a slow week for me, but I am getting lots of “backend of the blog” stuff done since I can do that sitting down.

I have also been using my down time to keep my Kindle filled. Do you use Overdrive or Libby to get library books? It is the best. I haven’t had to buy a book in years. I read on a Kindle Paperwhite. Ed reads on his phone, which I find the words too small to read. :-)

Have you read any good books lately? I am on the waitlist for the newest book in the Memory Man series by David Baldacci. I am number 3 on the online library wait list for it, so I should be getting it soon.

The weather has been so very nice which has allowed me to work on my computer outside sitting on my deck all day. No leaves turning colors yet, but I think soon.

I hope you have a pleasantly cozy fall week ahead.

Decorating

I like this decorating trend.

All these homes are beautiful, I think I like the Fairfield model the best.

I definitely like this home! And also this one.

I wouldn’t mind driving into this driveway.

DIY

Like the saying goes… everything comes back around in style.

Did you know you could paint curtains. It looks pretty amazing.

A cute Halloween craft made with an iconic item.

One of the easiest and best pumpkin carving ideas I have ever seen.

Home Improvement

Doing this will make your house smell good.

Food

Move over charcuterie.… there is a new kid in town. Would you like it? I know I wouldn’t since I eat a plant-based diet.

Does anyone have this KitchenAid mixer attachment? I think I would love it and am wondering does it work as well as shown on the video.

If you like hot sandwiches… this recipe looks so good.

I think this would be a big hit at a tailgaiting party.

Out & About

Not your average Starbucks.

Have you seen Pottery Barn’s Christmas Shop or Holiday Look Book? Browsing through them always gets me excited for the holiday season.

Goodwill is getting into the online shopping scene and Walmart is changing their return policy.

Fashion & Beauty

I ordered this short hooded fall/winter toggle coat. I wanted it in the True Purple color, but sadly that sold out. Considering the blue now.

Something to Think About

“Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go.”  – unknown

Everything mentioned in this post! XO

  1. Hi Diane,
I too, use a paper-white kindle, they are the best! But I sometimes use my phone or iPad when in the car. I just finished James Michener’s Alaska which was over 1300 pages, the perfect read for a trip to the final frontier. I started before we left and finished after we returned. But it truly enhanced the experience. Could you imagine carrying that around on a trip?
So, I never heard of a butter board but I think I might try it! Always a pleasure to read your posts, Diane!

Hi Margo – Kindles, phones and tablets sure do make it easier to read big or lengthy books. When Ed and I go on vacation we stock up our books. Before digital we used to actually have to take a suitcase of books with us. :-) Happy to hear that you enjoy my posts. XO

Hi! I have been on David Baldacci kick all summer! I’ve read his “Camel Club” series, “King and Maxwell” series and am on book 3 of the “Shaw” series. His writing is very good and keeps you guessing. BTW, thank you for the Sunday Scouting. I look forward to it every week.

Hi Brenda – I enjoy his books to and tonight I get to start his newest. My husband as read almost all his books – he really is an amazing writer. I am in awe of how many he writes and all good. Happy to hear you look forward to my Sunday posts. I enjoy finding and sharing links with readers.

  3. We got a kitchenaid spiralizer, not the a sheet thing it works okay. I don’t get much mileage out of it as I thought (my habits & functionality). Its a little wasteful, and a lot to clean. These don’t have many easy to wash parts. mostly it depends what you are cutting. Be aware, you are limited by item size (diameter and length). Generally these tend to not work well if what you got isn’t very firm and mushes where you stick the narrow forks. The forks can mangle the ends a lot. Do meal plan – you end up with those cores/ends and sliced up parts to dice for other dishes. I bet there are more videos on Youtube clarifying it more.

Hi Sewducky – Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me about the KitchenAid attachment you have. Sometimes the time it takes to set up and clean up isn’t worth it, plus the space it sounds like you need. I have a small kitchen and tend to like simplicity so it sounds like if I get the attachment it may not be worth it.

  4. You must read The Women of Chateau Lafayette! It’s a historical fiction of 3 women set in 1774, 1914 and 1940. If I remember it’s 500+ pgs, again if I remember, lol. I get my books from Libby, Bookbub, Free books.

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Rosemary – Thanks for the book recommendation. I will put it on my list.

  5. I would love to know what your favorite glass cleaner is, but I cannot see or get to the product. Can you give me a link? Thanks! I have cleaned our windows outside multiple times but they are still streaked.

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Elle – Does the image and link under it in the widget, not show up pr work when you click on them? We all have different configurations on our computers and blockers.

Here is the link: https://amzn.to/3ROWRRJ. It is called Invisible Glass. It is the best. I have very old glass in my home and it is the only cleaner that makes them sparkle and no streaks. :-)

  6. I absolutely love Libby. I read on an iPad mini. A good book I’ve read recently is The Incredible Winston Browne by Sean Dietrich. I hope your hip surgery goes smoothly.

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Joy – Thanks for the book recommendation. I just added it to my list. I am trying to get a lot of books lined up in Libby for the next few weeks since I won’t be getting out and about as much until my hip surgery and then for a little while after that.

  7. I don’t read as much but I love watching home & design YouTube videos. A few of my favourites are Leah Orr Home, Amy Fritz, Scandish Home & Nick Lewis (he’s very witty).

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Holly – I always forget to check You Tube for home & design inspiration. Thanks for reminding me. I just noted your favorites on my to do list.

  8. Jennifer Howard says:

I tell all my blogging gal pals to sign up for the online library!! It has all those expensive decorating magazines we all love…saves me so much $$$

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Jennifer – Thanks for the reminder about being able to get decorating magazines. Going to go check a few out tonight. :-)
