Style Scouting: Vol. 138

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

Hello – Happy Sunday. I hope you are doing well and enjoying the weekend.

I didn’t post a new post this week for two reasons:

One: We installed cable wiring into the openings along the existing wood railing on the upper deck on the lake side of the house.

The railing always worried me that a child or pet could fall through, so we added the cable wiring. It is hard to see, but the project is done.

I decided not to post about it as there are so many great how-to videos on the process that I didn’t feel I could make one any better. Plus, the job was harder than all the videos showed. Even Ed had a hard time with the tools needed. If you would like to know more, I can share the YouTube videos I used to learn how to install the cable.

Two: The other project I am working on is taking longer than expected. Do you remember the two wood panels that I showed you a month or so ago? I can’t get the color right on them, so I am experimenting with different stain and paint combinations. Now I am waiting for the stain to dry. I think I am close – so stay tuned.

Now onto the inspiring links I found this week.

Decorating

Anything but a traditional farmhouse.

This serene waterfront home.

Oh my! I love the open door feature on the back of this home.

DIY

How pretty and colorful is this spring wreath? Looks easy to make.

I love seeing smart and clever home improvement DIY’s ideas like this!

When you need a little cozy in a kitchen.

Food

Instead of ground beef, this recipe uses chicken.

If you like coffee and chocolate… YUM!

Freezer breakfast sandwiches for the morning rush.

Fashion & Beauty

For hot southern days. I just ordered this summer dress.

If you have ever met me in person, you know I am all about this. I even wrote about how it got me into my first real job after college.

Fun & Interesting

Now THIS is quite a skill. I tried it myself and failed.

This research fascinates me.

This past Friday marked 111 years since the sinking of the Titanic. Did you know these 13 facts? The cutting-edge research that brings us closer to the vessel that continues to capture worldwide fascination — even over a century later.

Something to Think About

The list that will encourage you to own less.

I enjoy doing this in the morning. How about you?

We are more alike than we think. You will love this if you love animals and kind human beings.

I just love your weekend collections/finds. That farmhouse was absolutely wow! Everything was. Even your Amazon finds. I think I am going to buy that hanging faux flower for my shaded “zen” room – I have a corner that
gets TOO much shade and the only thing that really can live there is a fern, which I love – but it needs some color. I appreciate you finding that for me.
I love that stoneware fluted tray too. Have a happy week.

I enjoyed reading your thoughts about and your history with lipstick. I too don’t leave the house without my lipstick on. Definitely, lipstick is empowering.

Since you loaned your gloss to girls in high school, I assume you would also loan your lipstick to Megan, Duchess of Sussex if she asked for it. Ha ha

    1. I think you and Ed did a great job on the cable on the upper deck. That did not look like an easy job but it turned out great. Is there any job you won’t tackle? Good for you both! The home posts were beautiful. Enjoy your week ahead before all the hot heat arrives.

  4. SO ironic you shared the post about wearing a red lipstick. Last week, I bought a MAC red/pink lipstick..”ALL FIRED UP”… looks FAB on us grey haired ladies!
