Style Scouting: Vol. 184

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

How was your week? Did it feel like Spring where you are? It was quite nice here. I am in shorts and t-shirt and enjoying the 85 degree, non-humid weather. It is nice to be able to sit outside before the yellow pollen starts here in earnest and covers everything.

I have also been planning a trip to celebrate my granddaughter’s 5th birthday. It doesn’t seem possible that she is soon going to be 5. We are planning to go to Disneyland. I haven’t been there since Ed and I first met.

I have been to Disney World and all the parks there quite a few times when my daughters were growing up. It will be fun to see the magic of Disney once again through the eyes of a child. If you have any ideas on what not to miss when spending the day at Disneyland, please let me know.

Before heading to the links I found this week, I have a favor to ask of you. If you have had trouble leaving a comment recently on a post or get an error message when trying to leave one, can you email me: [email protected]

Over the past few weeks my blog has had way too many spam comments getting through, even with a spam blocker. I had to change how comments are filtered. I think I have it fixed, but would like to make sure. I appreciate it.

Oh and Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Irish you a lucky day. :-)

Out & About

I love these placemats, but they cost $25 a piece at Serena & Lily. Target now has the same ones for $5.00 a piece.

Book recommendation: I recently read “All the Lost Places” by Amanda Dykes, a story of old Venice. It reminded me in some ways of “All the Light We Cannot See,” which I remember you saying that you read and liked. I think you would like this one just as much!!

Hi Edna – Thanks for the book recommendation. It sounds like something I will like. I added it to my list and look forward to reading it. :-)

    Have fun at Disney!

I really like the walk through of the Sleeping Beauty castle–the mosaics are gorgeous, and it takes little time. Also the Pirates ride is a little different. I find that Disneyland has the definite mark of Walt Disney on it, that is not really apparent in Disney World. Enjoy!

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Thanks for the Disney tips. I just added them to our list. I will take notice to see more of the mark of Disney while at the park also.

    2. Another great post….loved the retirement cottage. Hope you have a wonderful time with your grandchildren.

  4. I wish your granddaughter a very happy 5th birthday!

I really enjoyed all of this week’s links, especially the portfolio for Richkamp Larson Architects, and the post about decorating with blue and white. Dreamy!

Another believer here for morning sunshine. We’re in pollen season in coastal NC right now, though.

Have a wonderful trip to California and your visit to Disneyland.

Thanks Barbara – Courtney at French Country Cottage always has dreamy decor and images. I am looking forward our trip to LA. I hope we have a good weather. :-)

Love the tulips in yellow, but the white ones turned a horrible color and I had to toss them.

Hi Vikki – This is good to know. I guess since they are probably make in China, each batch could be different. I have had my white ones for 3 years now and they still look fine and so real – even the weight and feel. I also have them in a pink coral color, but wish they were more pink pink. I may see if they have the color or the yellow color as every room always looks best with a touch of yellow. :-)
