Hello September 2024! Goodbye summer!

In my mind, today, September 1st is the day I always feel is the first day of fall. I know it is because when I was growing up, once the school year started right after Labor Day, summer was over.

I am excited for the season even though the official first day of fall this year is September 22nd.

After a wonderful summer, I am looking forward to getting back to my favorite routines and begin finding ways to make sure I fill my days with a cozy ritual or two.

Life is too short not to enjoy our life and home surroundings in the way we want to create our own style point of view so we feel cozy, calm, energetic or whatever feeling is right for you. Whatever that fall feeling is for you… now is the time to begin doing it.

Now onto the inspiring links and ideas I found this week to share with you.

  • I found this in great condition for $15 at a church rummage sale back in July. I love it and use it everyday. It does it all – bake, air fry, dehydrate, toast and more without having to heat up our big oven! (open in same tab)

  1. Diane,
How could I copy this idea of two overly large prints on a wall without spending a lot of money.
I have a foyer with extremely tall walls. This could help my room.

I need your advice/suggestion on a project I’m working on. My daughter bought 12 frames in a light blonde shade. She asked me to paint them I Sherwin Williams Iron Ore. She bought a sample jar of it in satin. I sanded the frames, primed them with Kiln and put 2 coats of paint on them. They look good but after drying for more than 24 hrs they feel tacky to the touch. What can I do to get rid of the tacky feel?

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi John – It may take more than a few days for the paint to cure on the frames. It all depends on the weather and how damp or humid it is where they are drying. I would place them in a cool/AC cooled spot and let the paint cure. After a few days they shouldn’t feel tacky anymore. If they do, then the paint may have been applied too thick and the drying time will be longer.
