Style Scouting: Vol. 219

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

Are you ready? Thanksgiving is days away. Are you hosting? I am. There will be 8 of us so I am going to have to get a little creative with seating since my kitchen table only seats about 6 comfortably.

Holiday time is the only time of the year that I miss having a dining room like I had in my previous home. My dad made a large plywood top to go over the table so I could seat 12 – 14 people.

I also miss having a dining room since I like to set a pretty table. With a separate dining room I could set the table days in advance. Not so now as we will be using the kitchen table up until it is time to serve Thanksgiving dinner.

If you like to set a festive Thanksgiving table and need a few ideas you will find them in my post 26 Creative Thanksgiving Table Decor Ideas. (open in same tab)

Now onto the inspiration and ideas I found this week.

Out & About

Have you seen the movie Wicked yet? I wasn’t sure I wanted to see it, but am so glad I did. Everything is amazing from the actors to the costumes and the sets that were actually built, they are not computer generated. They are beyond impressive!!!! (open in same tab)

  1. Yes, I’ve used Martha Stewart’s cheesecloth method many times. I cut back on the butter and use a piece of cotton sheet instead of cheesecloth. Works just as well.

  2. Just a simple – I really enjoy your posts – lots of good info I use!
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  3. Congrats to Mandy and Matt! It looks like a fun memorable wedding . Those are the best!

I bookmarked the Wicked video…from what little I saw it looks quite impressive. Thanks for that…Happy Thanksgiving! ;)

    Thanks

  4. The link to Wicked was so interesting! I’ve seen the stage musical twice. Haven’t seen the movie yet.

I think I need a professional to help me pare down my closet for a capsule wardrobe that works for me. My body and lifestyle is changing so my clothes need updating and/or out of my closet.

Two of my grandchildren found my manual typewriter when they visited a few years ago. They were so impressed with the old technology! I found some directions for them to “draw” a few pictures. What fun they had!

Wondering if my phone was really listening to my private conversations was educational. Thanks for that.

    Diane—
I wanted to comment on how beautiful and creative I thought your daughter’s wedding was. Truly a breath of fresh air in this time of everything—especially weddings—being overdone. I loved the personal touches, style, thoughtfulness and just plain FUN of it! I could see the utter joy on their faces! Congratulations to all!
