Style Scouting: Vol. 231

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

Ed and I spent the weekend in Charlottesville to help our youngest celebrate her 35th bday. We had a nice time just hanging out, going out to eat at two of the many restaurants in town and went bowling with family and friends on Saturday afternoon.

I haven’t been bowling in years. Having spent an afternoon at the bowling alley was a reminder that bowling with family and friends is a fun winter pastime.

We are on our way back to SC today. This week, B-B-I-L home improvement contractors are going to remove the popcorn ceiling in my bedroom and fix a few things on the high wall in the foyer. I will keep you posted on that and more this week.

Now onto this week’s links.

Great scouting this week, D! Glad you got the chance to get away. Hope your daughter had a nice birthday.

  2. Lovey links today! I made the French candy boxes for advent gifts I sent to my grandkids. Easy and unique.
I hope I remember the baking soda hack the next time I brown ground meat.
I agree about how sad it is that Joann’s is closing.
I must save the tongue twister article as it would be fun to do/try at our next family reunion!
Have a great week. Fingers crossed that your ceiling gets finished.

  3. Diane, So many great ideas… copied many for future reference. I have to add I to am heartsick about JoAnns closing. Like you they have been my go to for so many years. I visited one of our Twin Cities stores the other day. I crochet for charity and was hoping to add to my yarn stash. It wasn’t about the sale because it was only marked down 25%. It was about my experiencing this amazing store one more time. Women gathered everywhere most of us sharing stories young and old didn’t matter we all had a passion for creativity and this was our go to store. My bigger concern with their closing is our amazing senior community. Many of them depend on handwork to have something that gives them pride of their skills but also something to fill their day with joy. My mom even in a nursing home enjoyed her stitching. Everyone agreed now where do we go. I held back tears as I stood in the long line to check out. It was a very somber mood. I thanked the cashier for her hard work and wished her luck on a future endeavor. We are also experiencing the closing of many other businesses here in the Twin Cities including some of our Macys stores or how I prefer to remember them as Daytons. Changing times😔

  4. What a great post you’ve put together today. Love that laundry room, and I could move into that North Carolina beach house today! Gotta start brunch, crustless spinach quiche, and hope to finish reading through the rest this evening. Have a wonderful week. Hope your contractors can finish up the repair work for you this week.
