Style Scouting: Vol. 247

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

This weekend summer arrived in the northern hemisphere. With it came a major heat wave that is affecting large swaths of the U.S, including where I live where it is very hot and may even reach triple digits!

Ed had shoulder replacement surgery on Friday, so I spent the last two days hanging out in a very nice hospital with lots of large windows to sit by to take in the views. Ed came home yesterday. He is doing great and just dealing with the pain now and having to wear a sling for the next 4 weeks. I have passed along the well-wishes many of you sent him. XO.

For the next few days I will be staying close to home to make sure he has all he needs. I will be working on a few posts for the summer while also taking time to simply enjoy reading a few good books I have on my Kindle.

I hope you can stay inside in the cool AC. Keep yourself safe and stay cool however you can this week and if you can, find your way to some water — a pool, lake, river, ocean or a fun run through a lawn sprinkler like we did when we were kids to cool off. :-)

Now onto the links I found for you this week.

Decorating

Every room in this home will make you smile – it is so bright, cheery and inviting. (open in same tab). Note: there are 15 photos in this post – just keep scrolling down in the post to see them all.

I like the use of lots of color, textures and details in this cheery home. (open in same tab)

You will find doable decorating and home improvement ideas if you look closely at the photos in this home renovator’s gallery of projects. I like the screen doors on the white porch with arched accents that is connected to a deck. (open in same tab)

DIY

I have made an outdoor planter using concrete, but want to try using this much easier and lighter compound to make a few more. (open in same tab)

Watching & Reading

I am totally immersed in the 2015 NBC crime drama, Blindspot that is currently on Netflix. The storyline is great and I also like that there are no dark gritty video filters on the scenes like so many crime dramas and movies have on them nowadays. (open in same tab)

Food

If you like ice cream? cake? Yum…yum.. yummy! (open in same tab)

If you like or want to grow herbs, here is a great post with lots of ideas on where around your home you can grow them. (open in same tab)

No more boring outdoor pavers when you add your creative style to them. (open in same tab)

Fun & Interesting

Which side are you on in this design debate? (open in same tab). My house has both. I feel it depends on the size and style of the room.

Look what you can do with your favorite children’s books. (open in same tab)

  • After getting my hair cut and styled at the salon a few weeks ago with this hair dryer, I splurged and got one. Even Ed is impressed with it. :-) (open in same tab)

  1. Curious about the hair dryer: what made it worth the splurge?
Glad to hear Ed is doing well :)

Hi Rebecca – I bought the blow dryer for a few reasons. :-) The main reason I liked the hairdryer so much is that at the salon it dried my short, but thick hair very fast without a lot of heat. I have never had a blow dryer do that. It was amazing to not have to blow dry my hair for a long time. Since I have to wash/dry and style my hair many times every week I thought it was worth it to save time. Also I rarely buy expensive stuff. I usually find a cheaper version and lastly my birthday is coming up at the end of the month and I felt it would be a nice present for myself.

Enjoyed your scouting this week, D.
    Thanks for all the inspiration!

  3. Healing thoughts for Ed!! Shoulders are so tough to recover from. Lots of PT will help 💜

Hope Ed is doing well. My hubs had his second shoulder done after we moved to Low Country so we were a little more prepared. Bought all my supplies for hypertufa pots 2 weeks ago! Must be something in the air!
