Style Scouting: Vol. 300

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

Filling window boxes with artificial flowers.

Hello and happy Sunday.

I am sure by now you have heard about the Cyclospora outbreak going on in the country. Well, I was going to write about this in last week’s Style Scouting, but didn’t have the energy. When Ed and I came home from Mexico, I came home with it and Ed got it a week later. It is not fun. We are not sure if we picked it up before leaving as we eat a lot of produce or in Mexico.

We were leaving to fly home the first day I had it and I was miserable, so miserable that I didn’t care what other travelers in the airport thought when I laid down on the floor in the waiting area for our flight with my back pack as a pillow. We had a few terminal changes during a layover and I needed a wheelchair to go the distances. Ed got tested I didn’t since we didn’t know about it when I was sick.

We are both pretty much back to normal and have become very careful about what we eat and cooking most veggies. If you want to know more, here is how to minimize your risk this foodborne parasite Cyclospora.

I hope you or a family member don’t get it. Now onto more inspiring topics. :-)

Have a great week ahead.

I am SO SO sorry both you and Ed caught that nasty. Oh my word how awful – especially while traveling. Ugh. My cousin’s husband has it now 2 weeks and is so weakened from it. My gosh what a horrible thing. As for all your Scoutings – as usualy they are fabulous. Funny I put that “dorm” back bed pillow thing in my cart recently. Isn’t it fabulous? especially for bedtime readers. Anyway, take care you two.

  2. Yucky!! So sorry to hear about your illness’ ! Glad you’re on the mend 💜

  3. Hi Diane, all good stuff this week as usual!
Fyi, the first link for “turn a cabinet door into a little shelf” doesn’t work. Have a great week!

  4. Sorry to hear about your brush with the latest illness sweeping the country. I had what we called “Montezuma’s Revenge” 40 years ago visiting Mexico so I completely understand your lack of concern about how you looked trying to relieve your discomfort at the airport. My favorite memory was how an older woman came over to me and said in her soft southern accent: “Darling, you look just awful, would you like a Pepto Bismal?” I could’ve kissed her!

    1. Hi Mary – It sure is no fun anytime, but traveling makes feeling bad 10x worse. :-)

  5. I came down with Norovirus my last night on a cruise before flying 14 hours home. I thought I’d accidentally got food poisoning from gravlax. I won’t go into details, but it was a very rough trip home. After we got home, my husband developed the same symptoms, my first indication it wasn’t food poisoning.
    I feel your pain.

    1. Hi PJ – That is what I thought I had, but I have had food poisoning before and this was different. I am happy to be back to normal now.
