Style Scouting: Vol. 63

Are you getting to enjoy a fall chill in the air yet where you live? Here in LA it is still warm during the day, but quite nice at night when I like to sit outside.

I am not a fan of the city sounds though – traffic, sirens, and helicopters circling overhead all day. I miss the peaceful serenity of the lake and will never take it for granted again.

I will also have to wait until I get back to South Carolina to see colorful leaves and front porches with pumpkins and mums like this porch has.

I am however enjoying my time with Zoe. She had a good week and was up walking around which was so nice to see. She likes the soups I make and calls my lentil soup – Mimi’s little soup. :-)

Posts You May Have Missed This Week:

While Zoe was sleeping, I did have time to edit photos and get a new post up:

Now onto the links I found this week…

Decorating

Loved this fall home tour.

Autumn porch decorating inspiration.

Susan Branch autumn blog post

If you remember Susan Branch and her wonderful watercolors and books about home, you will enjoy her latest blog post. Note – the page may take time to load – it does eventually and is worth the wait. She admits she hasn’t kept her site up to date, hence the slowness.

DIY

I know you have seen creative ideas using wine corks, but look what you can do with wine bottle labels.

More wine bottle ideas. I think I need to get this bottle cutter.

A creative fall decor project using scraps of wood.

A clever use for 3 stone pavers.

Crafts

If you knit – a free pattern for one very pretty throw blanket.

Food

To make to enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee on a chilly autumn afternoon.

I made these for Zoe… she likes sprinkles.

The French grandma trick that I never heard of this, but plan to try.

Garden

How to keep mums alive and vibrant longer.

Fashion & Beauty

I ordered this in the color Panther – casual, comfy, and stylish to wear out & about.

Her secrets to a life well-lived.

Fun & Interesting

My sister told me about this. Very interesting. Why were we not taught this in school?

  1. Thank you so much for sharing all the different ways we care for the mums on our front porch. It’s been really warm in Florida lately so they’ve definitely gotten some extra TLC. Hope your visit continues to go well and the recovery is a speedy one. I know it’s a huge blessing to have you there! Hugs, CoCo

  2. Happy to hear you and Zoe are strengthing your bond. She is so blessed to have you available to care for her. Still praying for her recovery.

Happy to hear Zoe had a good week:):) Continued prayers!! I am going to order that bottle cutter, thanks for the link:):)

  5. Love the pheasant top. Might get one in pink. I cut bottles with a very inexpensive electric tile cutter. Maybe Ed has one as you do so much diy. Thanks for the links.

I am so glad that Miss Zoe is feeling better. I’m off to enjoy all of the links that I clicked on!

    1. I always enjoy going to all the links you include in your posts, which leads to checking out their Instagrams. Needless to say, I can spend hours reading your blog posts. Love doing that. The peace and quiet of living on a lake is something I never take for granted. So glad to hear that you and Zoe are doing well together. Prays and more prayers for a complete healing.

  7. Carla from Kansas says:

Really enjoyed this Style Scouting and also your lamp make-over. A lazy Susan would help to go around the lamp with no break.

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Carla – I used a lazy Susan on my last lamp makeover for the reason you mentioned. I was in a rush to get the lamp done before I left to go to LA that I totally forgot to use it. I will add using it to the post.
