Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

view of lake from deck

Life around the lake is coming alive the past few days. With the warmer weather, I woke up to the sound of lawn mowers and fishing boats. I took my coffee outside and walked along the shoreline to see the ducklings and lots of fish that the herons think is their very own sushi bar.

It felt like a summer day, I planted some new perennials in some pots and worked on the fireplace wall in my living room.

I took the photo above when Ed and I were eating dinner. Tomorrow I am back at getting the fireplace wall complete so I can post about it this week.

So stayed tuned for that. For now here are the links and inspiration I found this week. Enjoy.

  1. The article on airline tips was so useful! Thank you for calling out attention to it.

      1. Nothing says summer like life on a lake. I love it and know you do too! Another great blog post.

  2. Thanks for another great Post! Whenever I visit sites via your Style Scouting post, I always spend a few minutes looking around. Every once in a while there will be one that I subscribe to, but sooner or later my interest wans. Not so for your Blog – I’ve been with you for years and I find it as fresh, fun and informative today as the first time I read it.

    1. Hi Robin – Thank you for reading and still enjoying my blog all these years. That is the best thing a blogger can hear. I hope I can continue to keep inspiring. XO

  3. You had me at cake! Looks good and easy. As empty nesters, we don’t “need” a big cake to celebrate.
The pillows are so simple but that punch of color is clever. I have some plain ones already made that need a face lift. Great idea!
    Thank you!

    1. Hi Patti – I have a few plain pillows that I plan to add the buttons to. I think they look cute and retro like the pillows in the Barbie house I played with as a child. Thanks for reading.

  4. I enjoyed hearing your description of spring/early summer arriving at the lake. I’m finally starting to get some spring weather where I live and it feels great. That single layer chocolate cake is tempting, even though I haven’t baked a cake in years. Small cake, few ingredients, and just a whisk required – I might try that!

  5. Those bookend lamps are cool but isn’t it odd that they don’t show a picture of what it looks like at night?! That lampshade idea is awesome. Thanks for sharing these links.

    1. Hi Michelle – I think the reason they don’t have a photo of the lights at night is that it is very hard to get good interior nighttime shots. I hope I can find a large lampshade to make the side table.

  6. Just a quick note to tell you how much I enjoy your blog. This was another excellent, and well thought-out posting – thank you!
