Make holiday drink coasters for Thanksgiving and Christmas gift giving or entertaining.

I have a holiday inspired Insta-Style for you today.

What’s Insta-Style?   It’s a series of simple projects for which no tutorial is needed.

You may not own the same items I show in the series of posts, but I am hoping that the ideas will inspire you to look at everything around you with new eyes and ask yourself…”what if?” to come up with your own Insta-Style decorating ideas.

Fast and easy decorating ideas with lots of style

What Can You Create When You Repurpose…

Ho Ho Ho!  Holiday drink coasters. Make one or make a set for your coffee table or to give as gifts.

The frames and what you put in them is totally up to you and your style vision.

For Thanksgiving, I spray painted the frames using a Hammered Gold finish and created another printable on my computer.

The fun part of making these easy DIY drink coasters is that you can use any type of decorative paper, not just printables to create unique coasters that can be changed out in seconds.

What Type of Paper To Use To Make Unique Drink Coasters?

Try a greeting card, wrapping paper, or a photo from a vacation to fit the season, your decor and style, or even make a few to give as gifts.

I bought the inexpensive black frames at Walmart.  The 4 x 4 square size is a perfect drink size.

The glass pops right out from the top of the frame, place the art in, pop the glass back in and you have an instant coaster when you lay the frame flat instead of using the easel stand that comes with it.

How to Cut the Free Printables to Fit Into Frames

How to cut a free printable to make a holiday drink coaster

  1. Cut out the square using a pair of scissors or a Fiskars Paper Trimmer.  Cut on the outside of the lines. Don’t cut lines off or the printable may not be an exact fit. The size is slightly shorter than 4″ x 4″.

Once you cut whatever paper you want, simply place it into the top of the frame and pop in the glass. EZ and a fun way to add your personal style when entertaining.

Great idea, Diane! Your blog is always such fun to read. You make everything approachable and real. I really enjoy your projects! Did you get the frames in a Walmart store or online? I didn’t find them online.

    Thanks much!

Love these-think I’ll check my scrap paper stock for ideas. I know I’ve got some cute Christmas paper there and would be so cute! Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Love these coasters Diane, and so easy to do. You give me so much inspiration that I need to now get inspired on how you get motivated to actually do these things. LOL

These are so fun and look pretty simple to make. Is the fiskars paper trimmer one that you would recommend? I’ve wanted to buy a 12 inch for a while and this price looks reasonable. Thank you Diane!

Hi Kathy – I love the 12″ Fiskars trimmer and would recommend any of the trimmers they make. It does a lot more in the way you can cut than an older model of theirs that I used for 20 years. I wanted to go up in size and could not be happier with the 12″. It is small enough to easily store, but large enough to cut larger pieces of paper for my crafting needs.

Perfect! They’re in my cart. Your feedback is better than any review. : ) Thank you!
