Style Scouting: Vol. 176

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

This past week I did a lot of sewing “in production mode” on my trusty 1950’s Singer sewing machine. It was the perfect thing to do on winter days. I am so happy to have the machine and know how to use it.

It saves me money to be able to make things that otherwise would be costly, but even more important to me is that I can design and make decor that will fit my vision. I will share what I have been making as soon as I get them all done.

On another note, I am pretty sure the weather has been on the minds of many this past week. Even here in SC, the temps are chill-eee. Last night single digit.

The chill makes me wish I lived in a house that had a fireplace going in every room like you see in old movies where there is a butler to attend to all of them. :-)

Hope you are staying cozy.

Out & About

Since I live in the south where it doesn’t snow, I find that I miss the cozy comfort of a snow day – an unexpected day off, just hanging out because you can’t go anywhere since the sidewalks are not shoveled and roads not plowed. These homes in the snow are giving me a little bit of that snow day feel.

Fun & Interesting

Start your day with a brain dump. I can attest that the system works.

Feeling stressed? Listen to the sound of forests.

Who knew these would become a craze now after 35 years? I collected them back in the 80’s. I gave the collection to my daughter, Mandy who has all of them displayed in her cheery kitchen. Did you collect them?

Something to Think About

Hi Diane! Thank you so much for sharing my pantry transformation. That was such a fun surprise.

Hi Annisa – I love sharing DIY projects that are doable and affordable to do, plus show personal style. :-)

  2. Jennifer Davis says:

I wrapped my necklaces in Press N Seal for a move. It was very difficult to get the necklaces unstuck near the clasp ends where the links were small.

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Jennifer – That is good to know. The video doesn’t show how to get them out. Too good to be true. :-(.

  3. Diane, thanks for all the great ideas. Loved that Valentine box! Amanda is a local author living here in Minnesota where I live. Hope your followers check out her site. Num😋. Sarah Kieffer is another author locally here. If you are looking for some scrumptious cookies and other yumminess check her out. Both of these ladies are so talented.

I have so many notes with ideas from today’s post. Thanks for all the work you put in to your blog.

Hi June – Thanks for telling me about Amanda living local to you. Her soup sure looks good. I will check out Sarah also. Happy to know that you got ideas from my post. As always, thanks for reading.

  4. Judy Fisher says:

Two of your objects to check out were blocked and it was not recommended we go there. Help Are they not blocked when you look at them?

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Judy – None of the links are blocked when I view them on my laptop and phone. I use the Chrome browser. Your computer may have high security? Not sure, but I always make sure that the links I share are real and legitimate. What are the two link topics? I can take a look for you.

    2. I still use the sewing machine I got for my 18th birthday and I think I could be slightly older than you. Especially appreciated the article on “brain dump.”

      1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Nancy – I love the simple Singer – no bells and whistles to break. :-). I can lose focus so easily during the day, the brain dump is my #1 best thing I do that helps keep me on track.

  5. Thank you for another wonderful post. I am going to try the valentine box for my daughter, I think she will love it!
