Style Scouting: Vol.214

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

Classic new england home in fall.

The past week has been good and not so good. The good news is that the fall temps and sunshine have made for one very beautiful weather week. The leaves haven’t changed here yet, but they will soon.

The other good news is that the roof on the house that was damaged when a tree went through it, will be start to be replaced this Thursday. We were told it would take two days.

One way I am trying to stay positive about the destruction is that I got to chose a much lighter color of roofing that will go much better with the lighter color we painted the house a few years ago. I am excited to see how it all comes together.

On the not so good news, I have been sick with RSV since Monday! My twin sis got it also.

I have been cuddling up all week on one of the comfy recliners in my living room with my favorite throw and laptop propped on a pillow on my lap. I may not have been too productive physically, but I sure got my computer files and email cleaned out which felt good.

I feel better, but still have congestion and the dizzies. I will be happy when it is all out of my system. Ed got the RSV vaccine and he hasn’t gotten it. I didn’t get the vaccine, but will most likely get it in the future to avoid feeling like I have the past week ever again.

Now onto all the links I found while snuggling with my laptop and a box of tissues all week long. :-)

  1. Congratulations on your daughter’s upcoming wedding! I love the dress you will wear, it is just my style except I would wear it in the wine color. I’m sorry to hear you have been so sick. My husband had the RSV and Shingles shots a while back. I caught Shingles, he didn’t, and now I’m thinking I better get that RSV shot. Take care of yourself and be in good health for the wedding! I’m also looking forward to the Martha documentary, her creativity and enthusiasm turned homemaking into a billion dollar industry!

Hope you’re feeling better and yes, be sure to get that vaccine when you can, along with the Shingles vaccine.

  3. Diane,

I don’t know how you do it with everything you are going through from the storm damage. So many great ideas! Love the dress you are wearing for your daughter’s wedding.

  4. Sorry to hear you and your twin weren’t feeling well. Rest and be well for your daughters wedding!

  5. Oh dear, I’m so sorry you have been sick with RSV, I have been sick with pneumonia this week. Feel better soon!!! 💙

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Thanks Gail – My sister got it also. So sorry to hear that you have been sick with pneumonia. It sure is no fun getting old. :-( Hope you are feeling better soon.

  6. Michele M. says:

SO SO sorry to learn you have been ill. Glad it will be behind you when your daughter gets married. I can’t imagine having to miss a daughter’s wedding being contagious.

Loved the Pure Salt Interiors – esp the Canyon home. Looked great. Thanks for all the inspiration, D!

    GET WELL SOON!

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Michele – Thanks :-). I am feeling better. I agree with you and so happy that I didn’t get sick closer to the wedding.

  7. Glad you are on the mend! Thank you for sharing the skin care balm stick. Here in my region in Canada we’ve had a lovely fall leaf display for about two weeks. Many trees have already dropped about half their leaves & some trees are already bare! I’ll be Xmas decorating Nov 1st (We’ve already had our Cdn Thanksgiving)

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Holly – I hope the colors here this fall are vibrant. Having already had your Thanksgiving does make it easier to start decorating for Christmas. Enjoy making your home Christmasy on Nov 1st. :-)

  8. Barbara Pilcher says:

So sorry you have been sick, and hope you are better now. Thanks for this variety of links, especially the pie crust trick and the DIY pumpkins. I am always looking for ways to get better sleep, so the article on Sleepmaxxing was interesting. Can’t wait to see wedding photos of you in your olive dress. Also, looking forward to the Martha documentary. I just ordered the Ina Garten memoir. It’s just $12 on Kindle.

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Barbara – I just loved the piecrust tip. All these years I was failing at ever getting a pie crust to look nice. Now I know the trick. :-) Enjoy Ina’s book.

  9. Hope you are 100 percent – very soon health wise!

    Tad

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Thank you Tad. I am feeling better. :-)

  10. Wondering what that drugstore beauty stick for multi purposes is. The link opens to the delicious looking cookies though. I missed that your daughter is getting married. Congratulations to all of you! Your dress looks elegant and perfect for a fall wedding. Hope you’re feeling better soon. I’m going to look into that RSV vaccine.

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Deanna – Thanks for telling about the broken link. I fixed it, here is the correct one: https://amzn.to/3Y5NSQY. I am feeling better, but not quite back to normal yet. With each passing day I should be soon. :-)
