Style Scouting: Vol. 273 – Happy Holidays
Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.
The final weekend before Christmas is slipping by, and somehow the holiday is only days away. It truly feels like Thanksgiving was just last weekend. Time always seems to move faster in December, doesn’t it?

Today I’ll be spending time in the kitchen baking a few more batches of my family’s favorite Christmas cookies (open in same tab) and cakes, including my Old-Fashioned Lemon Pound Cake (open in same tab), while also tackling the last of the gift wrapping.
I’ll be using a few of my tried-and-true Christmas wrapping ideas (open in same tab) I’ve shared here on the blog over the years that are simple, fast ways to give gifts a little “festive present presence” without adding stress. If you still have a stack of gifts waiting to be wrapped, you’ll find plenty of inspiration there.
Last week I planned to share how I’m setting my dining table for Christmas dinner, but time got away from me. Instead, here is a glimpse of my all-about-red plaid table setting using pieces I already own – the plaid tablecloth, plates, and my snowball votives. I added a few glittery trees from Hobby Lobby, which are even prettier in person and add just the right touch of sparkle.
I’m also used one of my favorite recent finds: tortoise flatware. I’ve always loved the look. but never the price, so when I spotted a knock-off version at Target, I didn’t hesitate. I’ve been enjoying using it every day, not just for special occasions. I consider the set my Christmas gift to myself—from me, to me. :-)
I hope you’re enjoying your own holiday preparations and finding moments to keep life festive and cozy. I’ll be taking a little break from the blog to enjoy the holidays and will be back in mid-January, ready to dive into a fresh start with cleaning and organizing ideas as well as few decorative projects I’ve been waiting on to begin.
Until then, wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a happy, peaceful New Year.
