The middle of August is always an exciting period of transition. It’s the time after summer vacations have been enjoyed and the new school year is getting ready to start – an important time for teachers and parents!
This is also our very first post on In My Own Style since Diane announced her retirement. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to carry on Diane’s legacy and only hope we can be half as successful, creative, and inspiring with this site as she has been over the past 17 years.

Hello, I have been reading this blog for a very long time and am so glad to see it continue! Just a couple of ideas as you make decisions moving forward: I would love to see more color in the houses and decor that are posted. It seems Diane certainly had a preference for white rooms. Also, please remember that not everyone celebrates Christmas and having a whole month or more dedicated to only that decor is very discouraging. Thanks.

Hi Ellen! Thanks so much for being here and taking the time to comment. I’m Holly :) My husband, Chad, and I have taken over the site from Diane. I’m an elementary school teacher and have been looking for an outlet for my creative side, and my husband has been in web development for more than 15 years. So when this opportunity came up, we just couldn’t pass it by. We wanted to make sure the Sunday Style Scouting post stayed on schedule this week, but we promise to tell you more about ourselves in future posts. Thanks again!

Hi PJ and Joy! You’re right, “we” were a little excited to get this post out this week and didn’t properly introduce ourselves.
I’m Holly :) And the other half of “we” is my husband, Chad. I’ll be doing a lot of the posting while he handles the more technical, behind the scenes work – and maybe some DIY help ;). We aren’t related to Diane, but have enjoyed the site and have a lot of respect for what she was able to build.
We are working on making updates all across the site, but it will take a bit. However, you’re both spot-on, and we’ll include a bit more in our next Style Scouting post. Thanks so much for the feedback.
