Style Scouting: Vol. 311

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. This is where we will share the random stuff that captured our attention or inspired us that we found online.

Well, it’s been nearly two months since we took over In My Own Style. Hard to believe how quickly the time goes by! Many of you may be wondering – where’s the new content? So we wanted to tell you a little bit about what we’ve been up to and our plans for the site.

First – what have we been doing? When we first took over the site, we had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Diane. We asked, “There’s so much content on the site, what should we focus on to start?” She suggested that we begin by reviewing and updating older posts. Although this isn’t as much fun as creating new content, it’s very important for keeping traffic flowing to the site.

When we update older posts, we edit them as any copy editor would do. We add or change headings, change sentence structure or flow, and update broken or outdated links or other content. We also may add or remove information we find relevant or unnecessary and clean up the comments.

We keep Diane’s name on articles that don’t have significant changes. They are her projects and include her thoughts and images. The date is sometimes updated, which tells search engines that the content has been freshened up. We may also share these in the newsletter or on social media – not to imply that they’re new, but simply because they are relevant to the season or time of year.

What’s coming up: We’re excited to share our ideas, style, and projects with everyone. We have a lot of ideas but not as much time! However, here are some of the posts we would like to get to soon:

  • A home tour to showcase our current style and where we plan to make changes
  • Organizing and storage solutions
  • Home decorating, holiday crafts, and seasonal decor
  • Food and recipe ideas
  • Fashion, travel, and other lifestyle features

The support from readers has been overwhelmingly positive and we couldn’t be more grateful for that! ♥ Please bear with us as we continue to organize ourselves and prepare fresh content for the site.

And please tell us – what do you want to see on In My Own Style? Feel free to leave a comment below (public) or send a private message with your thoughts on what you’d like to see on the site.

For now, we’ll continue with Sunday Scouting. I hope you enjoy the ideas, links, and inspiration that I’ve found for this week!
