Style Scouting: Vol. 314

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. This is where we will share the random stuff that captured our attention or inspired us that we found online.

Welcome to November! Hopefully you didn’t forget to “fall back” overnight and you got to enjoy that extra hour of sleep.

Time to put away the spiders and skeletons from Halloween and start thinking about decorating for Thanksgiving. Luckily, now that our kids are a bit older, we don’t have as many Halloween decorations – it’s mostly just fall decor that stays out for the season.

If you’re looking for a few ideas to refresh and start gearing up for the holidays, here’s where I’ll be focusing:

  • Warm & cozy layers: Textured throw blankets (think chunky knits) and pillows in earthy colors.
  • Natural elements: Natural pieces such as pinecones, gourds, dried plants, and natural wood can make wonderful seasonal displays.
  • Ambient lighting: The days are much shorter this time of year. I like to embrace the change and adjust the lighting to be a bit more comforting and cozy.

Next up for me will be Thanksgiving updates and early winter and Christmas prep. I’m also planning some gift guides for the season.

Tell me, how do you handle the seasonal shift this time of year? Do you jump straight into holiday decorating or try to savor the simple, quiet charm of autumn?
