Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

photo: I Spy DIY

Yesterday I decided to take a much needed break from work to enjoy one of my favorite pastimes. I went thrifting, but not at a thrift store.

I went to a big old-fashioned church bazaar in Columbia, SC that has been holding the popular bazaar for 73 years!

I wasn’t disappointed in what I found on the rummage tables.

I wrote about going to it 2 years ago. This year I spent $19 on a variety of stuff. I plan to use a few of the items I bought right away as I transition my house into holiday mode.

It was a fun day to take a day off and not do any work, which is what weekends are for, right? :-)

  1. Thanks for all of the great links, as usual, Diane! Thinking of you and your family and Zoe. I hope they are all doing well, and I appreciate all you do for your readers. :)

  2. could you tell us where to get the wallpaper in the photo above (white with grey angled lines)? I love it! Thanks. Also, as an older woman myself, I love being able to come alongside younger women to listen, encourage and share some of life’s lessons I’ve learned.

    1. Hi Deb –

It isn’t wallpaper, but a DIY painted treatment to look like it. Jenni has a show on the Magnolia Network. I checked it out so I could see how she did it.

She placed a piece of painters tape vertically on the wall. Then dipped the edge of a wide sponge paint brush in paint and pressed the edge to the wall on an angle. She repeated making the lines on one side of the painter’s tape and then repeated on each side of the tape – changing the angle on the opposite side. Then removed the tape.

You need to figure how many columns you want and place the tape in place and then just add the brush marks on each side of the paint. I hope this explanation helps. Let me know.

  3. Hi Diane, I love the first picture with the paint which looks like wallpaper. I’d prefer not to download the app to get the instructions. Are you able to fill us all in on how it is done? Probably with a roller? Thank you, Nancy (BTW: Prayers go up for your Zoe!!)

    1. Enjoyed the Christmas article and the joy of older women article. I especially appreciate my friendships with older women.

  4. Interesting topics today, Diane. I particularly enjoyed the Cup of Joe article about older women in our life. Thank you.

  5. Always enjoy these weekend posts so much, thank you Diane! That turkey charcuterie board and the fabric art look like so much fun, two things I want to try (both on a smaller scale, ha!).

  6. Wonderful post, as always. I do like the house color trend and wanted our siding to be as dark as possible but that wasn’t available at the time.
Loving the headboard with storage. Now to find someone to build it for me.
I have older women friends and have become the older friend to others.

  7. I loved this post Diane in particular the story about older women, it was so interesting to me, thanks so much for sharing.xx
