This time of year I always yearn for new starts and new organization. Since I don’t have the need for back-to-school supplies like notebooks, I thought I would come up with something I do need… a new desktop wallpaper organizer for my laptop.

Free Desktop Wallpaper Organizers

In the past if your computer desktop backgrounds were a favorite photo or the default image that comes with the computer, then using a background image where you can organize desktop clutter under categories, each with customizable labeled areas.

I have found having a background image that acts like a memo board helps keep folders and files I am working organized and easy to find. Much better than scattered all over the screen.

If I write reminders on a sticky note, I can drag it to my To-Do section on the background memo board. Same goes for my computer files and anything I keep on my computer’s desktop.

I made a .jpg image of this desktop background that you can download and save just as you would a personal photo and place on your computer’s desktop background display screen.

The image is static, but having three separate columns to place desktop icons make finding what you want at a glance easy.

Where Can I Get Digital Sticky Notes?

Digital Sticky Notes may come right on your computer in your apps. If not, you can do a Google search for Digital Sticky Notes to find one. I have a Mac and use the application called Stickies. You can read how to use them in this post: How to Use Stickies.

If your computer doesn’t have the app, you can add a Sticky Note to your computer via a Chrome extension.

Having an organized computer desktop when you open your computer, will not only greet you with some happy color therapy, but organized bliss as well with your very own desktop background screen.  :-)

If you have any problems with the downloads or questions on how I use the background, just leave me a comment on this post.

    Hi Diane

I was fortunate enough to receive a new laptop for Christmas. I have been using your desktop organizer on my desktop for the past few years and love it. I just downloaded the blank heading one for my laptop but can’t seem to put in my own headings like I did before. Any hints? It’s been so long I don’t remember how.

Hi Sue – How nice to get a new laptop. :-) Santa was good to you. Do you have a photo editing program on your computer like Photoshop Elements? If so you can upload the image to the editor in that and add the label headings. Canva and Pic Monkey may work also.

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Sheryll – I am not sure what the resolution is for that screen. If you can find out, you may be able to use one of the sizes I made up.

    1. Having trouble changing the headings for each section…picmonkey will let me add text but I can’t figure out how to delete what’s there currently

      1. Diane Henkler says:

        Hi Sue –

This is the first time I have posted something like this, so I knew I would need to make a few tweaks since every reader uses different software. I thought PicMonkey had a brush tool, but I see it does not. What size do you need and I will email it to you without the categories written in. I will then make a batch of new images with blank label holders so readers can add their own categories. I will get them on the site this afternoon.

        1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Sue – I just added the backdrop with blank labels in all sizes to the post so that you can now easily just add your new text in PicMonkey.

  13. Great idea! Thanks for sharing!

  14. Cute! I’m not computer savvy, so if I do this I will need help from hubby or other family member. Lol…it’s like reading Greek for me.

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Jen – It is so easy to do. All it is, is a background photograph that is simply added as a background image for your screen. If someone in your family works on a computer I am sure they have changed their background by adding a family photo or favorite color. Once you see it done, you will say, Wow, I never knew how easy it was to change the background to personalize my computer. :-)

  15. Linda O'Neill says:

This is way over the top cute. I LOVE it. It’s different and functional at the same time. Great post. Will be working on doing this to my computer tomorrow.

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Linda – Thanks – I like the white columns and can see the grey filed names, but others may want colored columns. I will be adding an image with colored background columns later today. It may be easier to see the names of the file names or some computers. Enjoy your weekend. :-)
