Style Scouting: Vol. 185

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

Just got back to the east coast last night. I will be playing catch-up this week to get back into my daily routine after spending the last week in Los Angeles to celebrate my granddaughter’s 5th b-day. I had fun just hanging out with her and her little brother who will be 1 in May.

On Friday, we headed to Disneyland to celebrate. We arrived at the gates a 8:00 AM and didn’t leave until after 10:00PM. Got back to my daughter’s home at midnight.

Last night after flying all day, we got back after midnight. To say I am exhausted is an understatement, plus Ed and I both got the cold that both kids, my daughter and son-in-law had. I haven’t been sick in years. Hacking cough and sore throat, but not Covid. No fun, but worth it to be able to spend time with family that we don’t get to see on a regular basis.

Hoping I feel better soon. Now onto the links I found this week.

Decorating

I love the kitchen in this Pennsylvania home… and the classic stone on the exterior.

This designer’s portfolio.

Seeing all the color in this home is inspiring me to add more to mine.

This is quite the backyard retreat.

DIY

I love repurposing projects for decor like this.

How to build a DIY TV frame.

I have whitewashed over paint when making over furniture, but haven’t tried this yet.

Food

This cherry blossom cake is STUNNING.

This tortellini salad. Yum!

Have you ever heard of a Taco Ring? It is not made with tortillas.

This butter hack is genius.

Out & About

So sad to see that this fabric store had to file Chapter 11. :-(. I have been a frequent customer since I started decorating my first home.

Gardening

I like all of these garden pathway ideas.

The best flowers to grow for garden bouquets.

Fashion & Beauty

This stylish tote doubles as pretty decor when hung on a wall rack or over a door knob. And it’s on sale.

Fun & Interesting

What the name of every US state (and its capital) actually means.

Something to Think About

Shedding yesterday for a brighter today.

The surprising benefits of this kind of walk.

Hi Diane, so happy you had some fun, magical family time!
Your post on the paint is so timely . We just painted our bathroom and have been looking for the perfect white trim.
The collection of matchbook is so fun and full of history,
( I share your fondness of Hess’s dept. store:).
    Happy Easter!

    Best,
    Christine

  2. Enjoyed picture of beautiful flowers, houses and salad recipe. Glad you had a wonderful trip with your family to Disney.

  3. I can’t believe your Zoe is 5 already! Thanks for mentioning Joann. I knew nothing about them filing for bankruptcy and have a gift card to use up. You’ve shared some fun ideas here and I’ll need to check them all out. Get well and rest up.

  4. Welcome back! Exhausting, but oh what fun! When my kids were toddlers we lived close to Disneyland and I never got tired of going there. But I never spent a 14-hour day there! As always, you offer so many great links. I really needed to read (and will reread) the article about “shedding yesterday.” We downsized 5 years ago and I have come to realize I did nowhere near enough decluttering when we moved. Still way too much history in my home, taking up space physically and mentally. Take care and recover!

Thanks Linda – I have been taking it easy so I can get back to a healthy state. :-) My husband and I are still feeling pretty miserable. I also have more that I can declutter in my home! Too much decor that I have been saving, I don’t need 75% of it. Time to shed yesterday for me too.
