Oh Lord, these Christmas decoration ideas are so beautiful!
Christmas is one of my favorite holidays. I always go crazy around these holidays. In addition to that, home decorating is what I loved the most. So I always search for different ideas to re-new my house interior. Recently, I came across Salt Lamps. They are amazing , they are incredibly versatile and can easily adapt to any style of interior. When they glow up, it shows the reflection of heaven. So beautiful! I love them! I got my salt lamp from Saltean.

  4. Hi Diane,

I was wondering, where did you get your accent chest with the white Charlie Brown tree on top?
I have been looking for something similar, and cannot seem to find anything like it.
    Love it!!!
    Love your site!!

    Thanks, Sonya

Hi Sonya – The desk/sideboard is a hand-me-down from Ed’s uncle. It is from the 1940’s or 50’s. The top drawer opens up and drops down to create a desk. You could get something similar on Etsy or Ebay. Here is one to look at that I found on Etsy: http://bit.ly/2zT9S8N

  7. Marly @ A Brick Home says:

Great ideas! I love the idea of using a basket as a tree skirt. I think I may be doing that for my small, artificial tree this year. :)

  8. I guess I’m old fashioned alothough all the different colors are pretty they aren’t Christmas. One year I decided to ” change things up” and used colored lights on the tree and got nothing but grief from everyone ! That summer the colored lights were put up around the pool and mom was told in no uncertain terms that the tree would have white lights! Looking forward to seeing what you have planned for this year.

  9. That’s how I first found your blog, searching for ideas for decorating the mantle and came across your purple and green post. :) Love seeing all your holiday decorations again.

  10. Tiffany Bush says:

Congratulations on all you have accomplished in the past 8 years! Your blog is well written and full of inspiring ideas!

I’m curious as to what you do with the old color scheme items when you move on to another color for your holiday decorating. Do you hang on to everything knowing you will circle back to it?

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Tiffany – Most of my color scheme changes are ornaments and a few garlands. I do have bins of all colors of ball ornaments, but the greenery stays the same or I buy fresh each year. I do have a lot of ribbon, too. Again I store this in a bin in case I want to re-use it. This year my oldest bought a new house and will be decorating it for Christmas. I am giving her a lot of my old decorations that I know I won’t be using anymore. My youngest also wants some of it, so it makes me happy to be able to see it reused and loved. :-)

Love your ideas Diane, keep ’em coming!

  15. Thanks for these ideas, Diane. I pinned several of them. You know, just yesterday I was wondering why I hadn’t received any posts from you, hoping you and Ed were ok.

  16. I usually have gold & silver tree decorations, which is what my daughter likes, but my daughter moved out of the house last year and I felt this year its time for new traditions. So I donated our big old artificial tree that took hours to assemble & add lights, and I’ve ordered a cute table top tree and for the first time I’m going with a red & green theme! I’m saving the wonderful gold & silver decorations for her in the future (as soon as her cats get older & stop climbing their tree!)

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi Holly – Oh those kitties… I have had many a tree go crashing to the floor over the years from a cat that shall go nameless. :-) One year we wired the tree to the wall so he would not keep knocking it down. Enjoy decorating your table top tree with red and green this year.

      1. mary heicher says:

We foster and always have lots of kitties if your trees next to a wall, put a large picture hanger and fish line to secure it upright. We always have climbers and it seems to work.

  17. Red and green for me ( only) always!

    1. Diane Henkler says:

Hi DIB – I grew up in a home where red and green was always used. I enjoyed changing my colors out over the years, but nostalgia is big for me at Christmas and I really, really loved my red and white decor last year and will be building upon it this year.
