Style Scouting: Vol. 136

Thanks for stopping by for this week’s Style Scouting. My Sunday post where I share the random stuff that captured my attention or inspired me that I found online.

Last week, Ed and I took a much needed vacation to the Riviera Maya on the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. We have traveled to the coastal region a few times in the past. This trip was for relaxing, which we did.

We didn’t even go on any excursions. Instead we headed to a thatched roof beach bed hut on the beach and stayed there all day, every day reading while getting served drinks.

I read this charming and cozy series and am still working my way through this mystery series that I mentioned a few weeks ago. Both series are fast reads.

After we got home, I had a hard time getting out of vacation mode. All I wanted to do was keep reading more from My Booklist. Which I did. :-) Hence no new posts from me.

I did update one post though since Easter is next week – Free Printable Easter Rabbit to Use for Decor, Chalkboards or More.

If you are looking for Easter Ideas I have a few others – This Easter table setting and this Easter Bunny Napkin Fold Idea Using this Free Printable Napkin Ring.

Now onto the inspiring links I found this week.

Decorating

The 2023 Southern Living Showhouse Tour

Lots of beautifully decorated homes to see in this designer portfolio.

This colorful cottage tour.

I like the cozy, yet minimal feel of this home.

If you like a cozy kitchen, make sure you have one of these.

DIY

This pretty flower wreath made using paper.

How to fix painted finishes when the paint runs.

How to make baseboards look better.

Food

If you like deviled eggs, then you are going to love this recipe.

These are one of my favorite Easter treats.

My daughter’s used to make something like these when they were growing up. I think they would like this Easter take on the recipe they used.

Gardening

Need an idea for a garden marker? Here are a few ideas. And here are even more.

Fashion & Beauty

If you like a gel mani or pedi, but not the lengthy process to remove it. I used this 2-step no base needed gel nail polish and topcoat on my toenails that doesn’t require a light to cure for my trip to Mexico. It still looks amazing and can be removed like regular nail polish.

Fun & Interesting

Whatever the problem… Walking may be the solution. (NYT gift article)

They said it couldn’t be done. I find construction like this fascinating. Just amazing!!!!

If you have Netflix and can never find anything to watch, doing this may help.

Something to Think About

  1. You and Ed looked like you had a wonderful relaxing vacation. I am so happy for you both. I have never been to that part of Mexico but have been to various others. Like you, I also liked the cozy, minimalist house best. Have a great week.

Diane, thanks for posting your vacation pictures. I would love to travel there. It looks beautiful and peaceful. I live in Hawaii so I enjoy living in paradise.

Here are a few cozy and mystery series I’ve read and recommend:

Louisiana Longshot (A Miss Fortune Mystery, Book 1) by Jana DeLeon
Working Stiff (Mattie Winston Mysteries Book 1) by Annelise Ryan
Murder of a Small -Town Honey: A Scumble River Mystery (Scumble River Mysteries Book 1) and Dead in the Water: A Cozy Mystery (Welcome Back to Scumble River Book 1) by Denise Swanson

Thanks for the mention. Loved the links. The colorful cottage was incredible. And that wreath was so pretty! Who knew you could use paper plates. I’d never have thought of using paper plates to make a wreath. Glad you got to go on a vacation. Reading soothes the soul.

  4. Diane, you look so relaxed! Gorgeous vacation spot. I just discovered the Secret Book & Scone Society series. So far, two book in…I love the characters and the setting. Yes, an easy read which is great as we are transitioning from a wet & wild winter to hopefully a gentler spring.. Have a great week..
