Your DIY Tricks & Tips

by Diane Henkler on 10/31/2011

I want to send out a BIG thanks to all of you who linked up your tricks and tips on Friday.   I am featuring a few of my favorites that I think you can use in your own life.

I have seen many glass projects that I hesitate to do because I am afraid to drill a hole into glass or ceramic pieces. Not anymore.   Amy from The Happy Tulip has a great tute on what drill bit to use so you will have success – not broken glass.

You have seen my Crafts Armoire and how I organize my ribbon.  What I didn’t show you in that post is that I also have a drawer full of scrap ribbon.  I just love how Debi at Life Currents organizes hers. She wraps the scraps around clothespins. How clever, organized, and easily accessed. Plus they look pretty all lined up and will stay wrinkle free.

If you are a DIY decorator then I know you have a fabric stash in your home where you keep all the fabrics you love, can’t part with, or plan to use in future projects. Carol at  The Polka Dot Closet has a great tip on how she organized hers with the help of some paper.

Last week I showed you how to make a picture hanging gadget with a paint stick.  There was not one, but two posts linked up showing how to easily hang items that need two level holes made on the wall.  Here is Brandi’s at Don’t Disturb This Groove’s trick – a paper towel.  So easy and smart.

Or you can try hanging in a slightly different way. Rachelle at Adventures In Creating uses masking tape to easily hang art.

Amy at MoMomma painted stripes on her wall. She mixed lots of different paints and used baby formula containers to mix and easily hold her paint. Great way to store leftover paint as well as an easy way to hold and carry the paint as she painted the stripes around room.

Want to transfer a computer image to another surface?  Pam at Adventures in Home Improvement shows us how with a really cool tool.

And last, but not least – I love this one – anybody who paints will, too.   Super easy clean up after painting.  Erin at Lansdowne Life shows just how easily it can be done.
